So, I've been smoking cigars for years. Mostly only Davidoffs though. Then I found BOTL. I have fallen off the cliff on the cigar side.
I became curious, took a look at the stickies on this side and bought an estate pipe.
It's an Excelsior De Luxe Imported Briar #588 and says Italy on it.
I basically picked it on looks. Any thoughts, quality? Any recommendations for pipe tobacco?

I plan on doing so, I just wanted to make sure the pipe had arrived and was in decent condition.
Thinking about it, the only thing I know how to judge is whether it is physically damaged or not. I just liked the looks of it.
Does anyone know anything about this brand? Quality, etc?
I might visit the local B&M tomorrow, get something off the shelf and see how it goes.
I know nothing about the brand or pipe other than it looks damn good. Does it have a significant buildup in the bowl? If so, a salt treatment (bowl filled with salt and an alcohol like cheap vodka) helps to loosen the crud for you to ream it out, do another salt treatment, then use pipe cleaners soaked in said cheap vodka until they can pass through and come out clean. From the pics it does not look like there is significant cake buildup in the bowl but it is hard to tell. If there are strong odors still there the salt treatment will help remove all of that.
