The wife and I are leaving in a few days for Belize. Is there any problems exiting the States with CC's? Would it be advisable to take the bands off?

You should have no problem at all exiting with them. All US Customs really cares about is if you bring them into the U.S.

You may want to check the laws in Belize though to see what you are allowed to bring in (value wise)

Been to Belize a few times now and never had a problem taking CC's in. Honestly even coming back into TX I have yet to have them search my humidor but it's never been worth the risk and price bringing them back to me. What part of Belize are you going to?

Belize sailing vacations. We will be spending a week on a 50 ft. sail boat. Day trips will be arranged for fishing, pictures, ruins, snorkeling and such. I don't plan on buying any CC's to bring back. I just want to take enough down to smoke while there. So no real concerns if I happen to bring back a few unsmoked of my own?

Well if you bring CC's back even your own you have a chance that they will find them. Personally I would only bring what I know I could smoke it's not worth the risk and hassle if they decided to search for me. Have a great trip winds should be nice for you at this time of year.

I took a 40ct Herfador on my recent trip to Vegas. A TSA agent pulled me to the side going through security and wanted to check what was inside. I told him cigars and he opened to check. He asked if I had any cubans and told him no. Of course they were on the bottom level covered by 3 layers of NC smokes :D. The agent never bothered to look any further then the top layer of cigars. Was not bothered on the return flight.

Does the TSA have the authority to confiscate Cuban cigars that they find inside the baggage of citizens traveling within the USA? Isn't that solely the jurisdiction of Customs and Border Patrol?

In a word....Yes. People need to know that their checked bags are spot checked as they go through X Ray and if they see something questionable they will open it regardless if you put a lock on it or not.

Think you read his question incorrectly. TSA can and will confiscate any items on the prohibited list. They may also confiscate anything that might compromise the safety of the plane. TSA will not confiscate your tobacco.

I did read it right....I've seen peoples tobacco ( cigars ) taken by overzealous TSA agents because the person who had them in their bag wasn't kissing the agents a$$ enough so his cigars were taken because the agent "felt" they "might" be CC's even though they were clearly marked as NC's.

I've had items cigar related taken from my checked luggage with their friendly little note that said they took the items because they were "questionable"....and no amount of taking it to one of the Superiors amounts to diddly. I now take my cigars with me onboard every time and have a list of items that are allowed ......paperwork from the actual TSA list. It never hurts to be careful or one step ahead of these idiots at TSA.

Would of filed a police report as that is theft. They have zero jurisdiction on confiscating tobacco of any type. Sorry you were robbed.
In a perfect world you are right. ..the problem is I've had lighters and DVD players stolen with no notes put inside. Hiring a lawyer to file a lawsuit would cost 10 times the amount of the stolen item.
