Most grocery stores here in the southeast carry Kona beers and since I'm fortunate enough to have a publix I can request certain things and they will order exactly as many as I want
Publix has really stepped their game up down here I've been impressed. They carry Lagunitas, Cigar City, Terrapin, Funky Buddha, Dogfish Head and some others. They even do make your own 6packs. Gotta love it.

You've gotta be from Florida if you know about funky Buddha. I love that place! It's about 5 minutes from my parents house and I still go there every time I go back home

Let me begin this post by saying I have probably one of the least complex palates in this forum.
Having said that I did think about what I wanted to say about this cigar the entire time we smoked.

I also want to say this is the first time I've smoked this much of a cigar. The construction was great, burned solid all the way thru. Definitely didn't have any peppery notes until the very last third but the first two were a rich leather and nutty flavor. This was also the first time I've felt a waxy texture on my tongue, this only happened during the first 20 minutes.

I am very glad I ordered as many as I did and I can't wait to hear what you guys think of them (even if you think they suck)

Enjoy your sticks brethren!!

Key West born and raised. Next time you visit you gotta check out J. Wakefield's new place. He just opened and was doing collaborations with Stone and Cigar City before he even had a brewery. I think it's somewhere in the Ft. Lauderdale area.

Thanks for the advice guys, just because I'm curious how can you tell they are fake?

As said before, the bad is off. Also, on the left cigar, just cut it open. Slice down the wrapper, peel the binder back and inspect the filler. Take pics of the cigar and post em up.

i would love to take a deeper dive into craft beer, but there are sooo many out there, i have no idea where to start. your suggestions give me a great starting point, especially since you relate the flavor profile to scotch.
and unlike cigars, i have no room for mass storage. my eight 6ers of the rootbeer are clinking around in the trunk of my car
Being in Chicago, you have multiple locations to learn from. Or take the trip south into IN, and visit 3 Floyds in Munster and/or 18th Street Brewery in Gary. There are several other quality breweries in NWI, like Crown Brewing (my home town brewery) that's won several awards and some breweries over in Porter County in Valpo and Michigan City. It's cheaper to run/operate a brewery in IN vs Chicago. Even SW Michigan has Greenbush and a few others, and if you enjoy the Scotch, swing by Journeyman Distillery and take the tour and enjoy the samples. Sorry for the thread jack.

For some reason I had a feeling you would like that one!
You might want to let it sit in the humi for a little before you smoke it. I hope you enjoy those customs when you get around to smoking them, make sure you let everyone else know what you think.

I never expected anyone to consider 3 cigars a bomb but thanks for kind words!
Enjoy brother

The amount may not be much to the vets, but to me its an impactful gesture that won't be forgotten. All 3 are playing nicely with their new friends in my wineador. It may be a couple weeks before I get around to smoking them, but I'll definitly post up my thoughts when I do.

$2.50 apiece?... I smoked one and it was pretty good.

Good notes of cedar and hay to start, and a strong floral note towards the end. The retro is wonderful - floral, but not harsh.

Just a tick below medium to start, a tick above medium to end. At the price quoted, I'd buy a box too! I'm gonna let the second stick sit for two or three months and see how time treats it.

Thanks again for sharing, Ian!

I looked back at the receipt and it was actually $3 a piece and I ordered 40 of them. I had them in my mailbox in about 4 days so I was pretty happy with the deal.

Glad to hear you also enjoyed it
