Lasik is getting cheaper and cheaper and ultimately save you money. I got it about 6-7 years ago and love it. If your eyes are not terrible you have a very good chance at seeing 20/10 which is fighter pilot like. I think you can get both eyes done now for 1k.

Yea, there are some great doctors in the tri-state that do it. I'm still very nervous about it and not sure if I would be a good candidate.

Yea, that is what I used to use. This new stuff is a lot better. It makes the lenses feel brand new each day.

Now you have to soak them for a min of 6 hours and you can't put the solution directly into the eye but it is a great product. My comfort with my lenses has dramatically increased.

So you have to rinse the lens off in the morning?

Man, I haven't had to use one of those plastic vials with the metal thing inside in like 15 years.

Do you need to use that?

It's very simple.

You fill the vial with solution. Take your lenses out and put them in the case, drop the case into the vial, let it soak for at least 6 hours and then put them right in your eyes. No different than using the other solution.

I thought you couldn't put them straight in?

Anyway, I think I'll stick with the current stuff I have since it was free.

Nice heads up though.

The machine does it all. The doc does very little so skill plays very little role in the outcome. If you take all your drops you'll do fine. I went to bed after the procedure and woke up not needing to put on my glasses. It was very cool. I think that most people qualify as good candidates even with a stigmatism.

This must be for you soft contact wearers. There are still some of us who still suffer with having to wear gas-permeable contacts.

I've been starting to think about getting Lasik, but not sure if I can afford it right now since it's likely insurance won't cover it at all. Something to keep watching to see how the prices and technology goes over the next few years.

Use the credit card. I promise you it it worth it. I paid 3k for mine and it's still worth it.

The 3K was about 7 years ago. I think you can find it for 1k now. By the time you add up the cost of contacts, optometry appointments, cleaner you will certainly save money. Many people end up with 20/10 vision, great for seeing the cops before they see you. Another way to save money.

Thanks for the heads-up Tom. I'm sticking with saline solution for now. I want to get Lasik but something about cutting the cover of my eye just doesn't add up. They'd have to put me to sleep :hysterica
