So I got this at pipe club a number of years ago (freebie through a raffle) and never did much with it. Until recently when I seem to have been bitten by some sort of cigar bug. I've got it seasoned and currently filled with cigars and humidity gel beads. I have some hydrometers coming from cbid next week.

My question to the collective is, is this humidore worth trying to use? the lid does not have a cedar on cedar seal and those drawers in front I suspect are pretty leaky too. I guess I just need to get the hydrometer in and see what it's holding. I was just curious is someone else had something similar to this and already determined that it was trash or treasure.

I do have a cooler or three of various sizes that I could use in the mean time. Thanks for any thoughts.

edit: oops, forgot the picture!

A lot of guys here don't use humidors at all, myself included. I went with tupperware, mine can hold about 80 cigars with one 65% boveda and not had any problems at all with humidity. That one boveda lasted about 6-8 months before it needed a recharge.

Drawers are slotted and open to the upper portion. The slot for a humidiy device is open to them as well so I'd guess for cigars rather than accessories. \\
I thought this thing would be nice to use since I have it. If it doesn't hold RH very well, I'll pass it along to someone else i think.

People will say what they want, but I had/have 2 c bid humis that I assume we're built in china. Both held rh good enough for me. I say season it and see how the rh holds. if you are using boveda, kitty, or beads, you'll probably be fine.

If it holds humidity....use it!

Tupperware and coolers do a great job but they just don't look as classy as a nice desktop humidor. You'll have plenty of need for other options like winedors and coolers later once you start to slide farther down the slippery slope. Right now that desktop sounds like it's the perfect solution for you

If it's leaky, you'll just need to pay more attention to it than if it isn't. The best characteristic of a humidor is to hold cigars. If it doesn't hold humidity, you can compensate by supplying more.

Is it worth using? Likely. Is it suitable for your own need both in size and care? You tell us.

I have to agree with most who posted above me and say if it's holding the humidity, use it. Especially if you're somewhat starting up the cigar smoking again. You can always upgrade and save up some money for a bigger and better humidor down the road. If those drawers are slotted, I'll say you can probably use them for your cigars too. But if you choose not to use those for that and instead for accessories, that's fine too and IMHO I wouldn't think it's a problem. In the end it's all comes down to your decision.

On my humidor, actually the Lucky 7 Humidor from Thompson Cigar Co. I have a small drawer on the top that's used for the humidifiers and also there's a very small area on the drawer for accessories. But since I've had it, I don't recall ever putting my cutters, lighters etc in it.
