So I found this in a junkyard where it has been sitting for decades and thought about trying to turn it into a giant humidor for my study. My main concern is the sliding glass doors. I'm not sure how well the will hold in humidity. 40 some odd years ago it was designed to keep stuff up top cold so I figure it has to seal at least a little. I've never attempted this sort of thing and was wanting others thoughts and opinions.

I was thinking the top would be awesome lined with Spanish cedar and some leds for fun. It has a freezer section on the bottom that would make a great spot for bulk storage. This thing is a beast at an overall size of 64 inches long by 36 inches wide.

Any thoughts on rather or not this could hold humidity would be appreciated.
Dude . . . For the time and energy you will spend on this type of project you could just get a second job, save a few dimes up and buy a new up-right humidor! Leaking air is only the beginning of the problems. Weight and bulk for usable space are also a few questions to answer. If you gut-out the pump and plumbing for Freon or refrigerants etc. (you will need to do that because the seals are gone and bearings are dry) you might have a cool conversation item at best. Then what? Stuff it with Glocks' and cigars? . . . . Not! Save your time for the chicks. Buy a good working new humidor (with L.G. humidifier or such) or, find a working one on Craigslist or E-bay. Then relax and "light-um up"!

I just decided to go with a refrigerator. You can see in the pics of it I gutted it and added some shelving so that it's just 1 giant sealed box. Eventually I am going to dress it up more, but for now it's functional
