Good for you man. If I could do the same, I would. I miss out on a lot and will have regrets, but at this point I'm the only real income in the household, so we're pretty much stuck.

Best of luck to you, the new job sounds great.

Thanks man. If I didn't have the opportunity I would be "stuck" as well. Best wishes to you!

As some of you know, I took a new job about 3 months ago, and although the income is substantially higher than where I was previously I have had to sacrifice greatly time with my family. The last 3 months I have been working on average 10-12 hour days. If I were a single man, or maybe if my son were a little older, this wouldn't have as great as an effect on me, however I cannot get past only being able to see my son for 30 min- 1 hr a day. I refuse to be an absent father.

I would like to make note that I've got nothing but mad respect for those of you brothers that are out there that break your back for your family and put 14-16 hour days in. I know my situation is not the worst out there, but for me, I can't do it.

I'll be taking a position as a Client Manager for a small start up IT hardware/software company here in the Dallas area and will be working directly under the CEO of that company. Along with better hours and roughly the same pay, I'll have the opportunity to golf with prospective clients and enjoy this leaf we all love so much a bit more, put some time and energy into my health as well as invest into my family.

I'm looking forward to this new journey in my life and am praying that it's the right decision for myself and my family. Just wanted to share it with all of you. Thanks for reading!

Good fortune with the new position! And it's admirable that you value your family time that much.

Sorry to hear the old new job did not pan out as hoped.
I wish you and your family the best with this new opportunity. Good luck brother! Family is a great thing and missing any time is not worth it. Take it from a guy that only gets to see his kid every other weekend during the school year.
