As I noted, I was late, really late to the Leaf by Oscar stick and my experience with the sampler I ordered has blown me away. That said, at the time of my purchase, I clicked on a link that said buy the sampler, get an Island Jim as an added bonus. Unfortunately for me, they were out of the Island Jim so, no soup for me.

Which leads me to this. Has anyone smoked the Island Jim No. 2? What are your thoughts? Should I take the plunge and pick up a fiver if the offer presents itself again?

Thanks for the assist.

It's not bad to me but also not great. I like the other Leaf by Oscar offerings much better. To me the Jim is a tad on the bitter side with cocoa and burnt wood flavors. Others seem to like it better than I do so no way to tell if you'll like it more without trying a few.

I had one and was not impressed. Boring and bitter.
Nice looking stick. Leaf is much better to me.

A followup to my journey to finding this cigar... I reached out to George Rodrigo and shared my experience and guess what? He responded! Yes, he responded. He apologized for the hiccup and shared the reasons why this took place. From there we engaged in conversation and my quest to try this cigar will soon be over for as soon as they are back in stock, he's going to ship one out to me.

This whole engagement got me interested in finding out more about Rodrigo Cigars and I have now smoked a couple but, that's not the point of this update.

George Rodrigo, like Jon Huber, is a stand up guy and guys like these make the industry what it is. A pleasure. A hands on owner committed to quality and customer engagement. I say this not to throw salt the other owners as I know many of them are active in this community however, in my experience, their care and feeding of their flock is the new standard in creating brand loyalty.

Just wanted to share.

Agreed. I've had quite a few interactions with George and he's a great guy. I really like his Corona Project. Others didn't and said they had issues with it. They were always a good smoke for me though.

Yeah, I remember once this guy I know gave me a gift voucher for Rodrigo cigars and I tried the CP...

I liked the island Jim, nothing blow your skirt up about it but It was decent. I probably won't ever buy one again though.. It wasn't good enough for the price (for my palette; others opinions may differ) to warrant paying for it again when there are so many other options at that price point that I'd smoke.
