Not sure of the truths here but....
1. 20% of your day is spent developing your own ideas.
2. An excellent cafeteria and of course it is free. They call the 15 lbs that you gain from working there “the Google 15″, because the food is freshly prepared and you have so many choices that you end up eating a whole lot.
3. A free gym and exercise area. You can even go there when you are supposed to be working.
4. A gaming area. Play things like foosball or air hockey. You can go here when you are supposed to be working too.
5. Outdoor tennis courts. Once again, you can go here when you are supposed to be working. Jeez, with all these activities when do you have the time to work.
6. Bike riding area. Go there anytime too.
7. Free babysitting if you have kids.
8. Bring your pets to the office, they love animals.
9. Make 75% of your pay if at anytime you become pregnant and can’t work.
10. You have a lot of freedom when it comes to scheduling. Very flexible.
The truth is, the Google workplace is pretty chaotic. You are expected to keep track of your own priorities and use their free resources to stimulate motivation and creativity. They are very selective about who can work for them, obviously they would not hire some slacker who can’t keep his priorities straight and isn’t very productive. There is a lack of structure at Google but they want it to be that way because of their beliefs.
