Odd....

Humidity in my basement is 70%++ Basement temp @75.

My 65 degree thermoelectric wineadoor with 10+ bovedas (65-84%) is hanging around at 61%?? (I've added numerous boveda in an attempt to bring up the humidity).

What the heck is going on here?

If you have a wineador why do you have so many Bovedas in it? A good wineador will keep your temp/RH where you set it....I have a Whynter and only keep a small container of KL in mine ( 1/2 pound ) and it's pegged at 65%. I'd call the manufacturer and talk to them as something may be amiss with your unit.

There are lots of opinions, here's mine.

Take out the Bodevas and use one of them in a plastic bag to calibrate your hydrometer. Leave it for a few days. Meanwhile, open the door of you wineador and let the 70% basement air in to get the RH up. Don't worry about the 75 deg. temperature, it's not a big deal ubnless you have beetles and that is very unlikely. When you are confident in your hygrometer put back it in your wineador with only the Bodevas at the correct RH, don't mix them.

Also, it can take a few weeks to condition several cigar boxes to the correct RH in a wineador if you haven't done any pre-conditioning of them.
