I've got a lead on some Calaveras, but they are 2015.
They've been mentioned in this thread a few times, but someone specifically referenced the 2014. Is the 2015 worth a try? Will it need some aging?
You guys are truly great. I love this place! Thanks!

I love the 2015's. The 2014's will be hard to come by but they are amazing. The La imperiosa is the same blend but different sizes. Right now the La Imperiosa is my favorite smoke. Just waiting to buy a box when I can afford it.

Las Calaveras any year, grab them when you can. I haven't tried the La Imperisoa yet but is the same blend, I'm still sticking to the Las Calaveras though. Great sticks, also a big fan of the Jericho Hills and the Headley Grange are great as well. Working on trying everything from CH cause they're an awesome company and I like to support awesome companies.

You've gotten solid advice here so there's not much for me to add......nice pup! Is that picture this year?? I cant wait for the season to start down here.

Oh and I have not had the JDH, TN Waltz, Paniola, or Mason Dixon. I have had the La Imperiosa, LC15, Headley Grange, Four Kicks - All great smokes and are listed in the order of my liking.

Here's my 2 cents:

I would approach them in the order of release, as they do follow a nice progression.
-Start with the Four Kicks corona gorda. It's the most approachable, and easily the most medium of all the regular releases.
-After that, try the Headley Grange. It's my least favorite, but I don't care much for Sumatra, typically. Most guys love it.
-Then the JD Howard to see the progression from Sumatra, so something a little dryer, less syrupy, but with the syrupy sweet undertones.
-After that, go to the Jericho Hill and La Imperiosa to compare the dark maduro experiences. I prefer the La Imperiosa, again because it's less sweet, but many LOVE the Jericho Hill.

Then see about tracking down the LEs later. The Tennessee Waltz (ongoing regular production for Tennessee B&Ms) is probably my favorite of their releases, though I haven't tried a few of the other exclusives.

EDIT: Get the aforementioned "six-shooter" sampler pack, and then the vitola samplers of Jericho Hill and La Imperiosa. That's what I would do to get a feel for things.

Several things here:

So much great advice. Thanks guys.

Due to the generosity of a member, I believe I have at least one sampler pack inbound. THANKS!
I'll do some 'research' and buy accordingly:)

I have an itch for the rare stuff (need to fill the top shelf of my new humidor...) so I went ahead and bought 6 boxes of drumsticks out of OKC. Never tried one, but I'm sure I'll like them (since they are lanceros) and they'll be superb for bombing runs >:)

I also have a lead on some las Calaveras and might order a box of those since they are LE.

My lab just turned 2 years old. That pic was her first ever retrieve in the field. It was last year. Since then we have hunted dove, duck, chukar, pheasant, and quail.
I attached a picture from our first upland hunt. It was a BLAST to see her learn how to flush the birds!

And I'll make a separate thread about this, but since you asked about hunting I'll put it out here as well:
I've got a membership at an all inclusive duck club/lease called Pintail Farms 90 mins from Dallas. If anyone ever wants to duck hunt with me shoot me a PM. I would be happy to take you along and get to know some more BOTL.

PS if you're looking for drumsticks try cigars and more in AL
(205) 655-4242
They had 9 singles at that store and may have had others at their other locations (all in AL). So be sure to ask them to check stock for all locations.

I found my 6 boxes of drumsticks by just picking the smaller cities and calling 16 places. Some laughed at me and said it was impossible to find, but hey, in the end I succeeded.

Btw the list of stores that carry drumsticks are at http://www.crownedheads.com/drumstick/

By the way, as a thank you to all the help I received in this thread THE FIRST TWO PEOPLE TWO POST 'I love Drumsticks!' Will each receive 2 single drumsticks in the mail.
The only rule is you must have previously posted in this thread. It doesn't matter what you posted. Any previous post is fine.

If you're one of the first two, PM me your info.

Mods, I hope I'm not breaking any rules here...
