A big thanks to all you guys here. I've decided to make a good ole American run for the border! Lol! I will be checking them and not declaring them. The advice in this thread has been awesome!
Run for the border....could turn into something of the opposite...don't drink the water.

Getting on this thread a little late. I once brought back a box of cigars from Mexico via American Airlines. They were not CC, but Mexican cigars, so I didn't worry. I declared them simply as "box of cigars" on the form.

I thought they might quiz me, but they didn't ask. Heck, I don't even know if they looked at the back of the form. This was a few years back. I was really surprised. Afterwards I kicked myself for grabbing those and not the CC's. I thought for sure customs would want to see them.

Good luck!

Another round of thanks is due to all you guys. I bought 15 different marcas at a little Tabac store in Saint Remy. I packed them in a checked bag. They all made it. At the duty free store at De Gualle, I picked up rum and a box of five Partagas. Put everything in my carry-on and walked right through customs with everything on my back! LOL. Here's what I grabbed at Duty Free:

As you can see, I couldn't resist a taste of that rum. Paired with a Cohiba Siglo VI last night upon return. Thanks again, guys, for all the great advice above.

P.S. Much to the chagrin of my wife, I spent most of the vacation sitting in little Tabac Cafes drinking Cuban rum and smoking Habanos all night long!

That's pretty funny that you worried about a few cuban cigars hidden in your luggage, but yet bought cuban rum at the Duty Free and calmly walked right through with the rum shining bright through those plastic bags. lol Nice work! :)
Lol! You know, Aloha, I had a layover in De Gaulle and was browsing around the duty free shop. I saw the rum and the cigars and just figured 'what the hell, you only live once.' I figured I might as well hedge my bet on the checked luggage. I owe it all to @Rupe.
