The Beard - A key component.

Just a random realization. I believe a mustache at the least is a very important tool for a cigar smoker. I think a lot of the flavor I get while smoking, is the remnants of smoke embedded into my mustache due to retrohaling. Even after I've stamped out a cigar, I still smell the flavor for a few more hours if I curl my upper lip and take a deep breath.
Perhaps this is where our ancestors keyed the term "flavor savor"?

I have a full beard but I don't think it either either adds to or distracts from my cigar smoking. Don't know if I would want to smell it for hours after I smoked. That's the reason I shampoo mine. No grungy beard for me thanks.

I have to agree with Tennessee Dave. I also have a full beard. I usually like to keep it trimmed real tight (about 1/4"), but sometimes I get lazy and allow it to grow out a little. Whether it's trimmed or grown out doesn't seem to make any difference in my enjoyment of cigars. BTW, after smoking for the day, I always wash my beard and face with soap and water. I love the smell of cigars when I'm smoking, but not so much when I'm not.

Ahh, that would be the little soul patch below the lower lip - also called "The Clit Tickler". That's an equally important piece of facial hair!

The only reason I have a beard is because my wife likes it and I'm JUST lazy enough to think "Yes! I don't have to shave." I've been clean shaven only once since I got out of the Army and she complained the whole time.

I haven't had a clean shaven face since freshman year of college 14 years ago. My wife, who was only my girlfriend at the time, hated it as well. Said I looked like a 12 year old.
