Hoping you guys can help a new guy out.

I've really become fond of the Drew Estate sticks, so far enjoying both the LP9 and the T52. I've also got some Undercrown on the way.

Since I'm a new smoker, I'm trying to avoid the full strength sticks. I had the 9 with no problem, and enjoyed it very much. A few days later, I had a T52. While the cigar was great, it kicked my ass in strength.

Can you guys reccomened any Ligas or DE sticks that are just as good, but maybe a little lower in strength?

Crowned Heads La Imperiosa. It's not really any less strong in terms of nicotine (most of the dark, earthy cigars are going to be stronger that way), but it's one you should try if you like thE No 9 and T52.

Try drinking soda, like root beer, Dr. Pepper, or cream soda with your smokes. They pair really well with the dark cigars, and the sugar will counteract the nicotine kick pretty well.

Undercrown's are on point. And a bit more reasonable in price.

I'm kicking myself for which stick I spoke to a DE rep about....migjt be the Undercrown or Nica Rustica, which people call "the poor mans liga" and it's the same blend, different wrapper I think!? I forgot....and having a massive brain fart on the details.....

Undercrown is the watered down No9, (or was originally) The Nica Rustica is more of a less-refined Liga.

Undercrown retains some of the finesse but not the strength. Nica Rustica has all of the strength of a Liga, but none of the finesse.

That's a great description of those cigars. Nicely stated.

I think the La Aroma De Cuba corona might be worth a look. The Room 101 San Andres might also be worth your time. It uses a less fermented San Andres wrapper. It is a different flavor profile, but it is still tasty and has a smooth character.

I gotta go with @sofc on this one, both Nica Rustica and Undercrown gargle ball sweat. But the good news it that you can create your own Undercrown cigars at home by following these simple steps:
Step 1: Grab a LP 9
Step 2: Remove all good flavors and redeeming qualities.
Step 3: Boom. Undercrown.
As for something similar to a Liga, I'd recommend trying a Warped El Oso. Great construction, ample smoke production and it has some great flavors. Plus, it's made in 'Merica and is available at small batch cigar in all 3 vitolas. Get toros or lances for only $10/stick with coupon code which I bet is considerably less than what you pay for LP 9 singles at your local B&M, and they are even better than LP

The only Under Crown I really like is the Corona Viva. To me the MUWAT Night Crawler is better than the Under Crowns and can usually be had for $50 per ten pack mazo.

The El Oso is a great smoke. I don't see it as a Liga style smoke, but it is definitely a must smoke cigar.
