Real or fake

A buddy gave this to me, who got it from his father who smokes a decent amount of cigars. I already have came to my conclusion but what says the bothers? Real or fake?

The Habana Cuba looks way off to me. The H and the C are incorrect. I would wager this is a fake.

Not looking too hard, but the 'C' in Cuba is incorrect; sorry brother. Also, the gold embossed box and line combination is the same width throughout the band in your picture...not a good sign.

Triple cap and accordian bunch seemed correct. I didn't have the heart to tell him what I thought. So I smoked about a third and pitched it.

Using the one rasshat bombed me I can see the C is wrong and the gold color of the lettering is off. Sucks for your friend and his dad.

You should def. Tell him though so he doesn't keep spending money on them

Guys the pierced "C" is the most common font mistake made by counterfeits. The top loop of the "C" should NOT curve around and pierce itself.

Well it's been determined as a fake but I've had my share of fake Cohibas. In my opinion, if they are bought anywhere other than in Cuba they have been terrible but I've had fakes that were made and purchased in Cuba and while they didn't taste like a true Esplendido, they were lovely cigars. I guess it's hard to go wrong when you start with great tobacco.

Thanks for the replies. My suspicions are confirmed, I wish I knew where these came from as well, but didn't dig too deep. I was just appreciative of the gift and let it go. luckily with the help of this site I've gained a lot of knowledge of what a real cohiba should look and taste like.
