I don't think there is anything wrong with smoking only one brand, or smoking what everyone else likes. Smoke what yeah like. Especially as a noob I take your guys input and choose sticks based on it to try if I think I'll like it.

Also though I don't do it often, I'll clench the cigar in my teeth. Mainly this is why I am trying to use both hands real fast or when walking the dogs and trying to type on my phone.

And I agree with spenny it's my hobby I don't care how everyone else does it if it makes me happy.

I've seen "10 things" web pages like this before. Usually it's a list of common sense on the topic with no data sources that someone could just create in five minutes. And you have to step through multiple pages, all of course surrounded by ads.
Interesting how that works.

Honestly, I think this list is a good list for a noob to look at. The advice is pretty sound for someone new to cigars. I mean, if an FOG wants to clench a cigar, no biggie, but the article is right in that more nuanced flavors can be had by letting the cigar rest.

The list isn't to lay down cigar law ("click bait" title notwithstanding), it seems to be more general wisdom to help a new guy get started, and taken as such is actually a decent list IMHO.

I laughed a little when I got to the part about not keeping the cigar in your mouth. I came from pipes where I held the pipe in my mouth more often than not and that's continued with cigars. I even try not to get them too slobbery, despite what my photos look like sometimes lol

I've met more than a few old timers that know cigars better than most folks and chomp on them or hold them in their teeth. Most of them can also distinguish flavors that at best I find are only hints in the profile.

I also disagree about smoking what everybody else is smoking. Sometimes social decorum dictates that you do smoke what others are smoking If you're at a gathering and somebody is handing out cigars, take one and smoke it. As long as it isn't a truly disgusting dog rocket there is no need to risk hurting somebodies feelings. So what if it isn't in your exact flavor profile. You might find something new to put in your rotation, or you might find a new avenue of adventure. If the nicotine is too much sit it down and be honest.

A decent list for new guys, but not a real set of hard and fast rules.

oh man that's some pretentious ass shit right there....i hold my cigar in my mouth sometimes and who gives a shit who else is smoking what you like, or if you mostly smoke one thing because you really love it, or even if you inhale the cigar smoke for that matter. I wouldn't do it but if someone likes to then who am i to tell them they're doin' it wrong..

I think all those "ten weird secrets they dont want you to know" etc. etc. pieces of garbage are the most annoying part of the internet

I agree with this also. A read a few things like this...more on cigar sites or forums though. But similar list that helped me out when I first started a few months back. It definitely helped. But everyone of us do something slightly different and it doesn't mean its wrong.

They forgot to tell us that one should never smoke a cigar while taking a pi$$...I've sneezed some good cigars right into the drink and watched helplessly as an Opus X circled the bowl ....another time I held the cigar between my two fingers and actually put out the fire at the end of it... and nearly burned myself another time.....so many things that can go wrong.

Mistake 3 : holding cigar in your mouth.

1st pic in that advertisement disguised as an article is a couple OG cigar smokers clenching cigars. I love it.
