Whats up my brothers, so i have a 40ct humidor (first one i purchased), since i'm fairly new to the cigar world i didn't think i would have to upgrade to a bigger one as fast. My cigar collection has been growing faster then i thought it would. I wish i would have been on the forum before purchasing a small 40ct humi since i see a lot of guys advising people to go big instead of small. Ive been looking around to see what i want to purchase next. i saw this new air "cooler" ( http://www.homedepot.com/p/NewAir-400-Count-Cigar-Cooler-CC-300/205581392 ) and fell in love with it. I was wondering if anyone has one, and you're thoughts on it. some questions i have are,
Would I have to season the trays the same way as i would for a regular desktop humidor?
For a cooler like this one should i put a boveda pack on each tray?
I am open to any other suggestions or/and advice! Thanks again brothers hope you all have a great weekend!!!! :)

First off, good decision. Have a wineador and love it. I actually posted a similar thread a while back when I was building mine. http://www.botl.org/threads/upgrade-fever-newair-281-wineador-build.80792/

But some of the most valuable stuff I found was on forum. Since you're considering one already assembled there still might be some helpful tips to take a look at. For example, added for computer fans for better air distribution and
I'd suggest searching through the threads here. Here's a couple I found quickly:

http://www.botl.org/threads/zmilins-wineadore-build-new-air-180e.76001/

Also this was extraordinarily helpful for me: http://wineadorbuild.blogspot.com/

Long story short: Seasoning? yes. Boveda? up to you. I do. plus kitty litter too.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

Very nice...

but.. you can do the same thing yourself... much nicer.. for the same money (or possibly cheaper)...

Catch the same model newair winecooler on air-n-water as a scratch-n-dent for less than $200 (I challenge you to find a scratch or dent that is noticeable on it)... and then call John Nelson and get you some awesome custom shelves/drawers... http://www.botl.org/threads/get-your-shelves-and-drawers-here.75090/

A. Yes, you would want to season the drawers/trays well before using; if you put your stash in there and they're dry, they'll soak up all the moisture from your Bovedas and your cigars.

For a cooler like this one should i put a boveda pack on each tray?
A. I use five Bovedas and five small containers of KL on each tray. If you're using exclusively Bovedas, I would go with ten packs spread throughout. More if you're in and out a lot, less if you're not. I get in my wine coolers maybe twice a week for a few seconds, so I need less medium to keep things even. If you're in and out a lot more, you'll want more to help it bounce back more quickly.

Hey brother -- @8ball and I have the same exact unit, made under the Whynter name. We love ours, although we only paid something like $360-380 delivered back in the spring. Worth every penny! :cigar: I put a bowl of distilled water in mine for a few days until the humidity held steady; that's when you know the cedar is seasoned (I also wiped all the wood down with DW to the point where it was barely damp). I used to run a Cigar Oasis in mine, but found Bovedas to work much better. I have 10 of the large 65% packs under the bottom shelf and 10 on the top shelf. That's probably overkill, but I doubt I'll have to replace them for at least a year. My RH fluctuates from 63-64%, which is right where I like it...

Give me a shout if you have any questions! (y)

Hey brotha I also have the whynter version. Purchased back in may of his year. Paid $318. Original price $360. Check it out. Im extremely pleased with it. Was also available at best buy online but item wasn't in stock so I called home depot and had them price match.

Either way, when u pull the trigger on one I have #8 84% boveda seasoning packs ready for u to throw in.

I love it bro, Looks great! How long did it take for it to be properly seasoned with the 8 84% bovedas? Also I think u just convinced me on getting it. Following payday, I'm pulling the trigger and getting it lol!! Thanks again brotha!!

Here are the recommendations from the boveda website. I left the packs in for 2 weeks. I did not wipe down the wood with a moist towel. RH maintained between 79-81%. Let me know before hand so I can ship out those packs for ya.

"We know it takes 14 days of exposure to 84% relative humidity to slowly and completely moisturize a wooden humidor. Any other seasoning method is dangerous and you’ll get mixed results at best. Simply place the correct amount of Boveda seasoning packs inside your humidor (without cigars) and wait 14 days. Then replace the seasoning Boveda (84% RH) with regular Boveda 62%-75% RH. Use one packet for every 25 cigars your humidor can hold. For example a 100 count humidor would require four packs. Don’t worry about what your hygrometer is reading while you season. The moisture of the air is not the moisture content of the wood."
