I will temper my comments here by saying this: I've only had one Gurkha cigar, and they offer many, so who am I to speak broadly about their product offerings? Disclaimer aside, that one Gurkha cigar was so bad that I will never touch another one again. I keep a spreadsheet of my own cigar reviews and comments; it is the absolute lowest rating I have given a cigar.

I think they are fully aware they're putting out literal garbage. I think they simply don't care. They have identified that there is a market segment where marketing material alone is enough to carry their business. The low-volume business is sustained solely on their astronomical markup. All they need to do is continue to maintain the facade and articles like this obviously help them do just that.

Sweet fancy Moses! When the hell will the gullible fools of this world get a farkin' clue?! Giving any legitimacy whatsoever to this sham company and their "business model" is irresponsible (and I say this as a rabid capitalist). Shame, shame, shame on Fox News for not vetting Kaizad Hansotia. (n) Why not do a story on a real cigar empire like Fuente, or one of the boutique companies? Asinine...

This sounds very intriguing. I'm going to get on a waiting list immediately, and start saving up to buy some. Maybe take out a second mortgage. That should get me a box. Then sit on it for a few years and sell it at a huge markup. Cigars as an investment opportunity. Brilliant! Up until now, like a fool, I've just been smoking them. What a waste.

It'll take so long for it to he your turn that you'll even have enough money saved for a Bentley or two.

I'll get reamed for this one...yes I've smoked Gurkha's and have I think 5 in total left in my humidor. Yes, I'll smoke them since they were gifted to me and surprisingly they're not bad. Yes, there's better out there though. Sadly, it seems like people get it for the "badass boxes" or free knives or other crap he gives away as freebies for box purchases. I wouldn't buy another myself, so I'll smoke the little that I have left and move on. If I acquire more of them, so be it. I'll never buy another though. Plus, I've never really seen them at ANY of my local B&M's.

I loved how he stated "they always sell out." That's why CI and other companies seem to be selling them dirt cheap. They can't get rid of them if they'd give them away. I've never seen any "sell out" of Gurkha's ever.

I can't help but laugh at that joke of an article.

Oddly enough, there's a really small b&m close to me that sells a lot of em close to msrp. They over price stuff like crazy. A 858 is like 2 bucks over msrp. The Ave Marias from cigars international cost 13

That's crazy. I have yet to see them at the b&m's I've been to. But the local b&m's need to make a few bucks too which I've had plenty of discussions with about with some buddies about the prices. Plus there is a lot of on-line competition these days.

"And then you have your ultra-premium cigar market. We are basically the only ones in that market. "
They're in a market all by themselves, I'll give them that. What's that saying? "A fool and his money are soon parted."

I quit reading after they called themselves the Ferrari and Rolls Royce of the cigar industry.

Whoever wrote this article should do some industry fact checking.

That's honestly my favorite bit of the whole article. This is like a write up likening Mad Dog 20 20 to fine wine or Steel Reserve to craft beer. What's most disappointing to me is they could have actually wrote a quality piece. Lots of names in the industry that would have made for a great story and shed a positive light on the industry.
