Hey guys! Just joined BOTL a couple days ago and it was well overdue. Since May, 2014 I have worked at Outlaw Cigar Co here in Kansas City, and I've been managing the store since December, 2014! Born and raised here in KCMO and I love this city.
At 18, my best friend and I decided to delve into the world of tobacco, and more specifically cigars. We went to our local B&M (now my place of employment) and were incredibly lucky that we had a shop with such knowledgable staff. Quickly we tried things and figured out what we liked. I think the very first cigar I ever smoked was a Perdomo Champagne - could've been a hell of a lot worse. We were drawn to spice though, and once we tried LFD DL, we didn't try much else for a long time. Somehow (and to this day I still really don't know HOW) we used to smoke DL all day, every day. To say our palates were burned out would probably have been an understatement. Luckily, I moved down to Orlando, FL for college and became familiar with Corona Cigar Co in downtown Orlando. It was there that I began to branch out, try new brands, experience new flavors, and really began to understand and love cigars. After moving back to Kansas City in May, 2014 and getting a job (at that time it was part-time) at Outlaw Cigar, I've taken cigars from just something I do, to a full-fledged passion.
These days you'll find me smoking damn near anything. Favorite cigars? Padrón 45 Maduro, La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor, EPC La Historia, RoMaCraft Aquitaine, LFD Chapter 1 & 2, LFD La Nox, Crowned Heads La Imperiosa, Jericho Hill, & Mason Dixon 2014 Southern, Diamond Crown, and the list could go on for quite some time - I think you get the idea.
As pipes go, that's something I've slowly been dabbling in for the last year or so, but these days I'm smoking more pipe than anything else. I have a total of 5 pipes and really only two, maybe three of them smoke well. If I was forced to chose one pipe tobacco brand for the rest of my life it'd be McClelland. It doesn't hurt that they're a KCMO company and you'll find I'm insanely proud of my city. Favorite tobaccos include: McClelland McTruffle (you can read about what that is and how it came to be in my post here: http://www.botl.org/threads/whats-in-your-bowl-today.57181/page-454#post-1723190 ), Frog Morton Cellar, Tastemaster, 221B Arcadia, Ashton Smooth Sailing, Dunhill Night Cap, Davidoff Flake Medallions, etc. I guess I'm more into the aromatics than anything else; when I'm wanting a pipe, I want something totally different from a cigar.
I guess that's probably about it on me. I hope to get to know some fine people on here!
