Knowledge is knowing that the law says pedestrians have the right of way as soon as they enter the crosswalk.

Wisdom is, knowing the laws of physics say that the 3,500lbs car traveling at 40mph actually has the right of way, and keeping your happy ass on the curb.
Incorrect. Pedestrians only have the right of way in a cross walk if your continued vehicular movement would cause impingement on their ability to freely travel the length of the cross walk.

AKA. Don't be a dick and sit in the right hand turn lane for 20 seconds waiting for the douchenozzle at the other end of the intersection to get to your side of the street.

Other AKA. Don't run over people or make them jump out of your way.

I just got an email from Groupon about tickets to see Journey and The Doobie Brothers in June 2016. I still remember going to The Doobie Brothers Farewell Tour in...I believe it was 1982. I wonder if I did it wrong, or there is a song they forgot to play. lol

Damnit all. Now I've got What A Fool Believes playing on a loop in my head, and mumbling it as I walk around the house. Thanks George.

Different states and different laws.

It's amazing. I am not military, but I get chills on nights when the wind is blowing just right, I can hear taps being played on Dover Air Force Base.
I work across from a VA hospital and they play Taps every night at 6pm. People look at me funny when I stop and turn towards the flag. I'm not military, but I do respect their sacrifices.

Who needs Uber?

I would like to share a personal experience with my friends about drinking and driving.

This might save you the cost and embarrassment of being arrested for DUI. It saved me.

As you know, people have been known to have unexpected brushes with the authorities from time to time, often on the way home after a "social session" with family or friends.

Well, two days ago, it happened to me.

I was out for the evening to a Christmas Party and had more than several margaritas coupled with a bottle of rather nice red wine.

It was held at a great Mexican restaurant.

Although relaxed, I still had the common sense to know I was slightly over the limit.

That's when I did something I've never done before...I took a taxi home.

Sure enough on the way home there was a police roadblock, but since it was a taxi they waved it past and I arrived home safely without incident.

These roadblocks can be anywhere and I realized how lucky I was to have chosen to take a taxi.

This was a real surprise to me, because I had never driven a taxi before.

I don't know where I got it, and now that it's in my garage I don't know what to do with it.

Myself and some co workers pitched in and bought gifts for another co worker hwos family is not well to do. Even though they make horrible decisions and no one feels sorry for them. We care about the kids having a Merry Christmas. Well my co worker was very greatful and thanked us. That was very nice to see. I have to say that it was a great feeling to help them out regardless of how I feel about their lifestyle. Made me think that with all the holiday hoopla and arguing back and forth about whether people are saying Merry Christmas. We have completely lost focus on what the season really means. It is a time of giving.
