My LSW and I need to replace our 10 yr old mattress and were looking at Tempur-pedics this weekend. I tend to move alot while I'm sleeping and it sometimes wakes her up. The Tempur-pedic seems to do an excellent job of isolating any movement as well as being VERY comfortable.

They are quite expensive though (almost $2500) - but I've seen other brands online that sell similiar ones for much, much less.

Anyone own one of these or something similiar?

We recently (5 months) purchased the Select Comfort, Sleep Number, King Size bed. The air bed with seperate settings for each side.
They are also expensive, but I can say has been totally worth it. I am very pleased with it and it has made a difference in how well I sleep at night and how much better I feel in the morning.

My wife and I just got a pillow top King size bed this year, wich has a Tempur-pedic like foam in it and we both enjoy it. We were about to go with a Tempur-pedic but I just didn't like it as much. Good luck.

Might as well lay down the cash if two people are going to be using the thing for another 10 years. Heck, we spend such a huge percent of our lives sleeping, might as well invest in making it good.

Quite true, but I'd rather spend $1300 vs $2500 if I can get the same level of comfort, quality, warranty, etc.

For instance ... I found the vendor below selling basically the same thing as Tempur-Pedic for about 1/2 price.

I'm wondering if Dunhill is somehow involved in making Tempur-Pedic ...

We got one of the 2" pads of the same type of material and just put on top of current mattress. About $100 at Sams. Wotrth a try before big investment.

Is that the foam the sell? I have been eyeballing that for a while. Didnt know anyone who tried it.

We get a new mattress about every five years.

Not a bad idea Ray.

How does it feel? Did it make a big difference?

We had the same problem (my movement bothered my wife). Spent some big bucks and bought the individual, completely adjustable (raise and lower head and feet, plus a massage) Tempurpedic. It's one of the best moves we ever made. We actually have two seperate beds, pushed together. So she can raise her head, and I can sleep flat, or she can go to sleep and I can sit up and watch TV. The Tempurpedic is the most comfortable bed we've ever owned. I hate sleeping in anything else. I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH GOOD ABOUT THE TEMPURPEDIC. Now I can move, get in and out of bed and my wife doesn't feel a thing.

Go for it...

I can't agree with this statement more. I don't know about the other brand you linked Ted, but I can say without hesitation this is absolutely the most comfortable mattress by far I have ever slept on. I have a queen size mattress. When I get in and out of bed, my wife doesn't feel a thing, which at my size is saying something. When we go on vacation or to visit family, we can't wait to get home to our own bed because it's so comfortable.

My father in law has the adjustable bed and loves it also. He has a disaster of a back and the back pain he has was lessened considerably after getting the tempurpedic. If you get one, you will absolutely not be disappointed.

I do have to say one thing though. The tempurpedic holds heat, so you can get too warm on it. It's not an issue for me as my wife and I like the tempurature cool in our room, but for others it might be an issue.

I don't have a Tempurpedic but I have slept on them many times. The hotel I stay at in DC features these mattresses. I agree w/Tuba on the heat issue but for someone who has stayed in many hotels this is the best mattress for comfort.

I do wonder why if was invented by NASA, how the hell did the Swedes get their paws on it. I bet it was NAFDA.:pokemyeye

Thanks Ray and Todd. I think we are going to pick one up a Costco. Wife's hip bothers her and this might be the ticket.

It takes a few days to fully expand after unpacking.

Also, it smells pretty strongly like chemicals for a few days as well.

I would reccomend opening it up and airing it out in an extra room...we did. Actually, I think the manufacturer even reccomends that.
