My new wineador arrived today, and I had a couple of quick questions. I know that it has probably been discussed here before, but let's be honest. Us males like instant gratification with our new toys, and the search feature can be a real PITA when using tapacrap. So here are my questions:
1. Do I need to do anything specific to prevent humidity from escaping (ie, plug the drain hole). If I do, can someone enlighten me please?
2. Where can I buy the carbon to assist in the plastic odor elimination (I've already wiped it down with warm water and mild detergent, have the door open, will fill with newspaper to assist in odor removal, then plug in with baking soda and carbon)?
3. This unit did not come with shelves/drawers like my CC300, but I do plan on using a few of the shelves from that unit in my new one. Does Spanish cedar absorb odors (ie, plastic smell)? I don't want to put the shelves in until the smell is completely gone if this will be the case.
4. Lastly, and most importantly, I have an inbound order that I'm concerned about. I've read on here that cigars can take on the plastic odor/taste if the odor is not fully gone prior to using the wineador for its intended use (humidor). If this is the case, would you store cigars that are in completely sealed boxes in the humidor while the odor is being removed, or find another means to temporarily store them while removing the odor and properly seasoning the wineador? I'm concerned about temperature control as my desktops average about 74-76*, and is way to high for my comfort.
I apologize for the dumb questions that I'm sure have been discussed here multiple times over, but I would appreciate some honest feedback. Thank you in advance brothers and sisters.

I can help a little bit.

1. I've read you must plug the drain hole. Buy I'll let others chime in on that.
2. I know you can find activated carbon at a pet shop that stocks aquarium supplies.
3./4. Spanish cedar and cigars will absorb odor. I would find temporary storage. Or cram the winedor full of newspaper to see if that helps get rid of the odor before they arrive.

Hope I was of some assistance.

Plug drain hole with tape or aquarium silicone

Carbon can be found at pet store by filters

I have heard of cigars taking on the taste so I would wait for smell to go away before I put the shelves or new box purchase

I'm waiting on my shelves for my build. Have fun with your new build

Thank you, as well as @IMABEAST, for the reply. When plugging the drain hole, I'm assuming that I need to plug the hole from inside the cooler. Would this be a correct assumption?

Your little addition to my list is a BIG NEGATIVE!!!! Disregard XYRNTX's shenanigans :) I have an inbound order, plus excess from my current wineador, that will be filling this one :D

Gonna bring up this old thread if Aaron doesn't mind my hijacking it. I finally got a Newair 281 myself and I'm gonna start getting it ready. Does the tape work for plugging as well as silicone does, and what kind of tape? Also is there anywhere that any type of plans are posted for shelves/drawers? I know John does a great job but I enjoy doing things myself and I could figure it out if need be but any sort of base plan would be greatly appreciated to save myself some time. I'm ready to get this sucker running and start filling it

In my experience with the 281E, there is no need to plug the hole. It only caused moisture issues for me.
I've had mine unplugged for several months and have a perfect humidity balance

Sounds like I'll start without plugging the hole and see how it holds. Haven't had any luck so far searching for drawer blueprints so I guess I'll start measuring and figuring up some
