I just purchased a second humidor, it came with an analog hygrometer but those tend to always be junk so I'm going with a digital. I use a rectangle Xikar digital in my current humidor and it does great, so I ordered a round Xikar digital. The round Xiakr is NOT able to be calibrated and is horribly inaccurate out of the box so I'm returning it. I was shopping for another Xikar rectangle hygro but they are no longer able to be calibrated either.

So now I'm looking for suggestions for an accurate digital hygro. I'm looking at two different units now:

Hygroset II round digital hygrometer
and/or
Caliber IV Digital Hygrometer by Western Humidor

Both seem to have good reviews but I'd like some input on them, or others. The Hygroset II would be nice since the new humidor has a spot in the lid for a round hygro (plus two rectangle humidifiers but I already bought two HF bead rectangles). I'm also thinking of both, the round in the lid plus the Caliber IV rectangle for the lower level.

Any input would be appreciated.

I'm a big fan of the Hygroset II. They're a little more work to calibrate but once you get them calibrated they are incredibly accurate and hold their calibration well.

You also don't have to worry about accidentally hitting the button on them and resetting them to 75% which is something that I have done more than once with the Xikar 3 button style

I have used a diamond crown for 20 some years and it works great. The rectangular Xikars, I bought two, one takes over a week to read rh within 4% of the others, the other is fast and accurate, others have reported issues with them as well.
I purchased 3 Caliber 4's and they should be here any day. Reviews were the best when I looked online. Hope that helps

Thanks for all the feedback, I ordered all three. The real plan is to use the Hygroset II in the lid and the Caliber IV in the lower level and teh Xikar (old style) just as a spare or possibly in a tupperdore or cooler as needbe.

I have 3 of each; hygroset II and the caliber IV. I think they are both good but the caliber IV came more accurately calibrated as opposed to the hygroset II. You should calibrate them anyway (I strongly suggest the boveda calibration pack, it's way more accurate as compared to the damn salt test).

That being said I prefer the caliber IV

Good post! I just ordered a Newair AW181E and the Drawer and shelf kit from Forrest, so I am in need of hygrometers for it.
Boveda sells the Hygroset with a calibration kit.
Been reading a lot of good reviews on the Caliber IV too.

The Caliber IV I purchased does the job after calibration but arrived farther off out of the box. The Hygroset I got at the same time was dead on out of the box and I will be using more of them in the future if needed. I calibrated all of them with a Boveda kit
