Just finished my latest large custom cigar humidor build using a vintage US Military surplus wood crate that originally held 105mm rounds for M395 Howitzer cannons.

Lined with 1/4" solid Spanish Cedar, has two removable top trays, cherry stained, cedar Boveda pack holder and Xikar Digital hygrometer.

Purchased this box from a Army/Navy surplus (along with a few others) a couple of years ago and have been meaning to play with it. Finally got around to building one for a customer! Turned out great. Love the history of boxes like this.

MORE PICS HERE. Let me know what you guys think!

Thanks man! It's doesn't have a 100% air tight rubber gasket like most of the containers I usually build with have! :) But the way I build the wood to fit down into each over plus the latch on the lid closing it tightly = it holds as well as a traditional wood humidor does.

Do you guys carry kits for 20mm cans?

That looks great. Is this something you built just to tinker with or do you sell them?

I don't have kits for the 20mm cans but I have several of those cans in stock and can easily cut one for you. Actually I can do a full ready-to-assemble kit OR just give you the rough wood that you can cut to exact size yourself. Just depends on how DIY you want to get.

Very cool. Can I ask what you charge for something like that?
Our larger custom boxes like this start around $500 and up depending on size, configuration and cost of the container. All handmade in the USA using GI surplus containers.

Both. I built the first ammo can humidor for myself back in the late 90s. Carried it around for about 15 years and always got compliments on it and people wanted to know where to buy. Finally, in 2012 I started building them in my free time for sale.

I build and sell them on my site ammodors.com. I also do local gun shows, cigar events and other tradeshows. Trying to get my name out there to grow a small business with no advertising $ can be a challenge! :)
