The data plan is where they can really screw you if you use a blackberry or other pda phone. I managed to get unlimited data+ nights/weekends + 500 minutes for a total of $30 a month.
All it takes is some shrewd negotiating.

Wow, those are some great deals....usually it is 40 for the voice and another 30 or so for the data.

Nice haggaling!

I agree ....that is a screaming deal. Sprint definitely has a lock on pricing for the data package and nights/weekend hours. My provider is Verizon and my "unlimited" data plan is $49.95 and my nights/weekends start at 9pm (what a crock). I have had several Treos...started out with the 600 and now on my third 650. I have been extremely pleased with the service that I have received. The really cool thing is that NOONE services them...if there is a problem that can't be repaired with a soft or hard reset of the system. They send you a new phone...no questions asked. At that point you just sync it to your pc or laptop and retrieve all of your information from your old phone. It also works well as an mp3 player.

T-Mobile also has a god awful price for their BlackBerry plans as well. $89 for unlimited data+unlimited text+300 minutes. Insanity, but they're the only one who have even mediocre coverage of my house.

I skipped the dataplan, tried out the internet crap and got reamed with data fees for the first month or two. Now I just use the PDA functions and the phone functions alone. If I ever need to in an emergency I have a dial-up I set up on the treo, and failing that I can pay verizon their insane fees.

I've got the Treo 650 and it does almost everything I need.
Combined with push email and my unlimited data plan, I rarely have to fire up the laptop.
The TomTom, Mp3, Video, and Tivo functions are an added bonus too.
I have the 650 also and it is great, I'm still learning how to use the damn thing :scratchhe

I thought it is usually unlimited data when you get the data plan?

I'm extremely happy with my t-mobile dash. I spend $72/month for 1500 minutes plus unlimited nights and weekends. my data plan is unlimited, but since my phone is wifi capable I don't take up much of their bandwidth through their EDGE connection.

Yeah it is, but I didn't want to pay the $30-$40 or whatever it is on top of my regular plan just so I can browse the web on a 3 inch screen and IM people. Seems like a waste of money to me. If I was on call for work and could make more use of it or if the company I was working for paid for it then I would get it no doubt.

I hear ya...I just have no need to check email on my phone.

If work gave me a crackberry it would be nice but I would hate that they are always in contact with me
