After waiting for over 5 years to get one of these I finally bit the bullet and got one! Thankfully I ordered it last week as we just got a large vet bill for my cat. A whole other story.

I got the scratch and dent special for $131 shipped! I'm now on John's list for drawers, I am on the June list, which is sort of a blessing because 1) I don't even have enough sticks to stock my 75qt cooler and 2) I need to save up for a few months as those drawers aren't cheap!!

The couple of dents are pretty pronounced but nothing I can't live with. I have lots of reading to do. I think I may order the same trays I use in my cooler off of Amazon in order to at least get this thing started. I plan on keeping my cooler too but I'll need to increase stock as the year goes on in order to justify that. Not a bad problem to have :)

Anyways, here she is! Need to unbox and test it to make sure it works before I start throwing all the packaging away.

I'm VERY excited right now!

Are those dents pretty normal for the scratch and dent units? This thing looks mildly beat up. Other scratch and dents I've seen on this site looked pretty darn good.

Manual says to wait at least 2 hours before firing up so that's what I'm doing. Once I see that it works I can toss out these huge shipping boxes!

Yes that's normal, mine came with about the same beating. Make sure to get rid of the plastic smell before putting sticks in!

Man I don't even have trays for this thing yet! I have 3 trays in my cooler but I'm going to keep that stuff there. I suppose I need to order some trays, just feels like a waste of money as I'll be getting John's drawers in June and will have to re season all over again and get rid of the trays.

I'd use cigar boxes but the only B&M around here has their boxes out in the open and they reek of smoke. I don't want that in my wino!!

Anyone have any other alternatives? Right now I'm looking at 50 bucks in trays i'll only use for 6 months or super smelly cigar boxes...

Thanks!

Wireframe shelves from the hardware store, cut to size, will do good.

Look at last post 100 of my wino build thread:

I read that this is supposed to be silent operation. I can definitely hear this thing when it's on. Is that normal? It's not loud by any means, but it's not quiet/silent either

And fwiw, if you hear a hum, it's because you have a ground loop.
Nah no humming, I think you're right. I think it's just the fan. But I definitely KNOW it's on. It's in my home office and it's always pretty silent in here. I bet that's why it's so noticeable.

I just played some music at a normal volume and i could only barely hear it. I guess when it's the only noise in the room it's pretty loud :)

I'm interested to hear it when it gets to temp and the fan shuts off... then it should be silent...

I'd the temp in you office is generally OK, perhaps you could leave it off most of the time, and plug it in only when you really need the cooling?

Just a suggestion...

I think that's what I'm going to do because it's now to temp and it's got this annoying noise to it. It's most definitely not silent. Room is usually 73-75 year round. Temps I'm not concerned with because I freeze everything. I may just always leave it off...

The best way to describe it when it's at temp is the noise a computer tower makes. Really quite annoying. I thought these things were dead quiet, that's why I bought one! oh well. if i keep it unplugged, it'll still look really nice.
