I think that's what I'm going to do because it's now to temp and it's got this annoying noise to it. It's most definitely not silent. Room is usually 73-75 year round. Temps I'm not concerned with because I freeze everything. I may just always leave it off...

The best way to describe it when it's at temp is the noise a computer tower makes. Really quite annoying. I thought these things were dead quiet, that's why I bought one! oh well. if i keep it unplugged, it'll still look really nice.
It could be hacked to not have cooling, just light...

I use my cooling in the summer. It's useful in July and August. The rest of the year the cooling could be absent and I'd be happy. No power needed for a nice looking good seal. ;)

the hum sound for is so faint but it's from the fan. i can hear it if im sitting right next to it but the unit is usually 10 or so feet away from me and i dont here a thing that far away.
yea it's like 2 feet away from me. Maybe that's why it's annoying. I'll probably leave it off.

That light is really cool! The seal is nice on it so I'll probably only run it in July and August like you.

The other thing is, I tried to make it nice and level, looked underneath and someone moved and drilled the leg into a new hole, not even CLOSE to the original hole. Lovely. That's what I get for buying scratch and dent... The more i inspect this thing the more I feel like I should have just bought another cooler!

If it was modified, not just gently used, try contacting the store and get an exchange. Scratch and dent are not supposed to be damaged goods.

Packaging already in the trash compactor of my complex. Whatever, it functions fine as a wineador and the cooling works well. Reallllly don't want to deal with the hassle of returning this thing. It sits level enough. Just weird that they'd sell this as simply scratch and dent. I've been having the absolute worst luck with mail order lately.

Just noticed the rubber seal on the bottom corner isn't seated all the way in. Everything I've tried won't get it to settle into the nook either. Damn, what did I buy?

EDIT: It's below the actual opening of the cooler though so hopefully it'll be fine. Just not sure why the seal won't sit in the groove the way it should...

Pretty sure this was was used as there isn't much of a plastic smell. I have the door open anyways.

Would it be best to put newspaper in there and close the door?

Is the price you paid the same as most scratch and dent 281s? Seems like yours was significantly cheaper

Damn, I was thinking maybe you got more off based on the leg movement or something.. Weird it doesn't have a plastic smell. I got mine at Christmas and I've had door opened to air out some and had baking soda and newspaper in there the rest of the time and it still smells

EDIT:
Today was just a rough day and it reflected in these posts. My cat who is now 10 pretty much stopped eating a few days ago. We took him in and they found a real bad tooth and said that was most likely the problem. They removed the tooth on Wednesday and he just hasn't been the same since. He can barely make a sound (he's very talkative), still not eating, lethargic, etc, and I've got a huge bill on my hands to boot. Just hate seeing him in pain. Taking him back in tomorrow. The wino's small issues were just magnified due to my stress from the cat's issues.

I'm going to keep the wino. Weird stuff and all. Sorry for the bitching and moaning. Just a tough couple days. I'm excited to get this wino set up. I'm usually not a negative person!! :)

Now to find some sort of fan system that I can actually install....

If you contact them and explain your situation they will send you a different unit and you can return yours in the box they send with your replacement unit. I would encourage you to take pics of the drill hole and have them ready to email.

On a side-note, I am having an Aristocrat built and will not have a need for my drawers so i will be putting them up for sale if you don't want to wait until June. They are slotted and drilled. Satin finished handles. Four drawers and two shelves.

We used to use some stuff call RTV when I worked in the electronics industry many moons ago. I found this stuff that might work out for you. Like the link says, it's food grade and the description says it stays flexible.

I've read where folks use computer fans wired through the drain hole. I guess you could zip ties to place it and make the opening air tight with the stuff above or plumber's putty.
Very sorry to hear about the cat. It's a real bitch when a pet is sick.

I'm in the market for drawers and haven't decided what to do yet. When do you think you'll be selling yours?

Thanks for the note man. I'm just going to keep it. It is functioning fine. I've had it running and stuffed with newspapers all day just to get that tiny bit of plastic smell out. Thanks for the offer, I have no idea what aristocrat shelves look like, they'll fit a 281e? Please send some pics if you can :)

Thank you for the link! I may just use a little bit of that stuff for the area that isn't sealed. I still don't know if it'll hold RH. I'm waiting for the computer fans I ordered to show up before I put my little cedar trays in there to start the seasoning steps.

Aristocrat is a custom cabinet. LOL. Forrest from wineadors.com designed my drawers. Here's a pic of a slotted and drilled drawer. It definitely helps with airflow.
