Hi All,
Soon to put my first converted wine cooler (NewAir AW121) into action and I'm thinking about using the wiring for the led as a source for interior electricity. I'm kinda surprised that I can't find anything anywhere about somebody doing this which makes me think that the idea may be opening a can of worms, although I don't see why. Can anyone shed some light on the subject? (sorry for the bad attempt at small joke)
Anyway, I can't find anything that states the voltage of the light, and I don't have a voltmeter. Besides, I rather get the pieces for what I want to do together before the unit arrives.
Does anyone know the voltage of the led, know where I can find it or can someone with a voltmeter help a brother out?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Chances are pretty good the voltage is 12v. The question at hand would be how much current does it run and will that support what you want to try and do with it?

Most just add lights to the cooler, dont believe it's enough current to give off good lighting inside. I've tried adding an extra fan to existing fan on the board and got a lot of voltage drop from it. Sure adding more lights will give you the same result.

Thanks for the replies. Appreciated.

Always did have a prob. with Ohm's law (n)

I'm with Jesse.

It is likely either 12v or 5v, but either way would have a current limiter; you see, that's generally how they don't burn said less, by limiting current.

I'd simply pass wires trough the drain hole and be happy with it.

Generally an LED is not a voltage-sensitive device, it's a current-sensitive device, and as such, it requires the use of a current-limiting resistor to keep it from instantly turning into an exploding projectile when power is applied. You're gonna need to know the mA rating of the LED in order to determine what size resistor you would need at a given driver voltage in order to calculate this correctly. Ohms law at work.

Keep the thread updated if you come up with something... I am just now in the process of getting my AW121 up and running too.
