I recently passed through Dubai's airport. In Duty Free I noticed a regional
Punch Robusto Emiratos ... very interesting find for me. Has anybody tried
some different ones or got their hands on them ? :)

I recently got a box of Bolivar 108's (2010 RE for Spain, true Corona Gorda). Have yet to try one as I'm letting them "settle" for a bit.

Also have some Por Larranaga Encantos on the way. This is an Asia-Pacific RE and I'm really eager to try them, especially because I love the size.

Have been considering a box of SLR Pacificos as well. It's the only RE from this marca to this point and while young, all the reviews I've read, note that it has tremendous potential.

It's nice to see some of the lesser known brands get to participate in the RE program. Sancho Panza and Quai d'Orsay have some coming up and, hopefully, so will Diplomaticos, Raphael Gonzalez, and Vegueros.

I'm a noob to the CC world, so here's a question for those who are more in the know:

Are the RE's (or LE's for that matter) indicative of the marca's "house style" or are these a departure from their regular flavor/taste profile?

^ The REs tend to be very close to the standard production cigars. In most cases they are like a super version of the regular release cigars of their marca (unfortunately, in some cases they are like a crap version). The LEs, on the other hand, tend to be quite different than the standard production and can be described as a marca of their own. You can tell that an Upmann LE is an Upmann, a Partagas LE is a Partagas, etc. but it's like you get a whisper of the flavor of the marca rather than that flavor dominating the cigar.

Thanks UBC, that's the kind of assessment I had hoped for. Now I'm really DYING to try the Ramon Allones LE due out later this year.

Taking it one step further, how about the LCdH sticks that have recently been commissioned? Are these more in line with the traditional, regular production offerings or are they different blends, like the LE's?

Why wait? Why not buy yourself a box of the Partagas and MC 2010 LEs and see how you like them? Both are excellent cigars.

These tend to be very much like the regular release cigars, just in a different size than the regular lineup. Generally, they are very good representations of the regular release cigars. The recent RA Superiores were very well liked, for example. But you can't find them anymore. I lament that I only got one box.

Not that I have a ton of experience with REs, but I've smoked enough to know that they can be hit and miss. They are not cheap compared to standard production smokes, so I tend to avoid them. However, I've been impressed a few times. Namely with the SLR Pacificos, PL Robusto, PL Belicoso Extra, and Boli Simones.

^ Those are all good. Here's a list of the ones I have tried (or have but not yet tried in a few cases because I only have a single and am holding onto it). I put a "+" next to the ones that were particularly good and a "-" next to the ones that were particularly bad. The remainder on my list are good but didn't knock my socks off.

The Vegas Robaina Marshall - Adriatico was a while ago, but quite nice!
And the Ramon Allones H & F 225 - Gran Bretana, La Gloria Cubana Belux No 1 - Belux, Edmundo Dantes Conde 54 - Mexico were within the last year....all wonderful to me. With thanks to Mikey, Brandon and Ryan.
