So I received a 10 count box of Punch-Punch tubos in early January, along with a couple other boxes. The boxes were sealed and from a source I've had past success with. The seals all checked out on habanos.com, so I stuck them in the humi to rest. They were placed in the wineador and held at 64%RH/64*F. I've since opened the other 2 boxes and given gifted some to my dad. I lazily did not open the tubos, they're not anything special so I just left them alone. Well I got around to opening them today and here's what I find...on every stick in the box. This is my first time finding mold, and I don't think I've ever seen plume, but this seems to be a no brainer. It's spotty and somewhat fluffy.

My question is- are they salvageable? It doesn't seem to have affected the foot of any of them yet. If they are salvageable, I'm guessing I should ditch the tubos? No other sticks in the humi have any issue, and this box is now in quarantine.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1459993703.525902.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1459993715.646530.jpg

Thanks Chuck. I'll give them a wipe and see what happens in the next week or two.
Yeah, this will be the last time I neglect to check tubos prior to storing. These are actually the first tubos I've owned. I generally tend to learn my lessons the hard way (y)

When this happens to me I wipe with alcohol (or vodka). I feel better knowing that the alcohol kills mold. It has never bothered my cigars to do this but it seems that most people here don't agree with me.

I have done this in the past as well (a gentle wipe with isopropyl alcohol) and there have been no latent affects to the smokes.

As long as the mold is just on the wrapper and not in the foot I wouldn't sweat it.

mold is a minor irritation unless it gets on the foot.if it does, cut off the foot.
wipe it off (vodka is fine)
I also would not reuse the tubes, the mold will be in them.
I bet you check next time..........

Yeah, you right. I will check next time. Upon further inspection I found 2 CC's with mold on the wrapper and foot. In the other humidor this time. Completely unrelated.

All I can assume is I overstuffed the newair and moisture built up in the one spot I happened to have CC's. That'll teach me to have a foot surgery and leave the humi's unattended for a month.
