Traveldor Problem (I Think)

So, I went to great lengths to find somewhere that still had some of the Armored Humidor Systems in stock. A quick overview is a pelican case, with 2 layers of foam that hold eight sticks each. I have a ton of pelican's for nearly all of my nicer firearms, so naturally I wanted a pelican case to store my sticks in when in the truck, or on the golf course. Anyway it appears (and sounds) like the sticks are able to slide in the tray from side to side...

I attached a picture for an example. The smaller robusto will slide from side to side depending on how it is tilted. Is this normal?, or is there a solution to it?

Thanks guys!

They will roll slightly side to side but there should be no issue of them moving from the slot they are put in.
If you are looking for something that keeps them from rolling slightly you should get the dimpled top pad so it slightly pushes down on them.

I understand what you are saying, they are able to slide back and forth and the foot or head of the cigar will smash into the sides of the case.

If it were me, I'd get another couple pieces of foam layers like what's in the xikar traveldors, and lay them on top of the cigars so when you close the lid it adds enough pressure to keep them from sliding around.

This works well too as also what @jmartins posted as well. That seems like your best bet unless you'd want to upgrade to a different cigar traveldor. But it seems like you like the Pelican cases which are really good too. Maybe try searching for some of the foam and put it at the foot of the cigars if they're the smaller RG's or vitolas. That's probably your best bet.

Not sure how the pelican cases work, but I do know with the Xikar and Cigar Caddy cases they apply gentle pressure to keep the smokes in place, regardless of the size. Only issues I have with it is sometimes the smokes are too big for the foam so instead of holding "5 cigars" it'll hold 3 or 4 cigars.

The pelican case that I have with the dimples top foam applies light pressure to keep the cigars still and secure they do not slide. The exception there is that cigarillos will still move around inside the case.
When I get back home I will post a picture of the inside of my pelican to show what I mean.

Hmmm interesting. The 5-er traveldor I have from cigar caddy has 2 thick pieces of foam and it "presses down" on the smokes firm enough to hold them in place without damage. My Xikar 10 or 15er needs that many smokes to hold them in place or those will roll around. But I have the dimpled foam on top and also another removable layer to lay over that one for extra cushioning at the top I think.

Yes sir, I will post a picture of the lid and the layers I don't need many cigars to hold it all in place.

I think the issue is that the foam rides up so high and you'll need to put smokes in there that are the length of the traveldor. As per other traveldors, the foam is a big more "open" and maybe is the reason behind any vitolas will fit and not slide around with the little bit of pressure.

UPDATE:
I removed the foam, from the lid of the case and replaced it with dimpled foam from a plano gun case. It stopped the cigars from sliding around, but was overall too thick for the lid and I was concerned that the case would not seal correctly, and too much pressure on the sticks.

So I went to order replacement foam, it looks cheap until you factor in shipping.... Ended up just getting a whole new Pelican with the correct foam for the same price as the foam alone from Amazon.

Now if only it wasn't back ordered on Amazon.... :dead:

Glad you got the issue sorted out.

Just an FYI: the Cohiba on the left in the picture you posted is a fake. The half row of squares at the top of the band is a dead giveaway.

I thought the same thing about the band, but trusted source and the rest of the pack that it came from are normal. The whole label is slightly misprinted, embossing, etc are all misaligned by the same amount. 90% of me wanted to say it was Cuba being Cuba, but the other 10% thought maybe someone swapped one from the box. Since I wasn't sure about the validity of it, I smoked it to properly dispose of it. It tasted like any other Cohiba. I will post a close up of the band when, I get home since I thought i was worth keeping since it was an oddball.

PS: Good eye I was wondering how long it would take for someone to notice that.

Also want to add, I wonder how these older style bands were printed, if they do black first gold first, etc.
