Do people change the types of cigars they're smoking based on the time of day?

Personally, I like strong coffee with heavy cream in the morning. I tend to smoke something medium to strong with it to keep it from overpowering the cigar.

In the afternoon (which usually after cutting the grass or something) I tend to have a light beer (not as in Miller or Bud, but Pilsner or Lager). I usually like a light cigar and usually smaller to go with it to cool off and relax.

Later, after dinner or out with buddies drinking, I like something spicy and robust. If I'm out, I'm probably drinking whiskey of some sort and I tend to go with smoky/peaty scotches or bourbon; hence the pairing.

For me, I think it is more the pairing and what I tend to drink at those times. I don't really smoke a lot, maybe 3-5 a week (slowly getting smoking more often), and I usually only have one adult beverage a day unless I'm out with friends. However I am a creature of habit and tend to drink or smoke the same at those times of days regardless if I have the beverage or cigar to pair.

This morning: Caribou Coffee Mahogany with a Gurkha Warpig (I know some people hate them, but I think they're tasty but a uneven burn).

I tend to avoid the full-bodied smokes in the morning. Especially on my ride home from work. Other than that, it's fair game for all other smokes.

I don't smoke often in my truck, but when I do I tend to smoke something budget that I don't mind only smoking half of or smoking quickly. Had a Nub Connecticut Saturday while driving and a Sancho Panza on a trip to home last week.

I've actually been toying with the idea of buying a box of premium cigarillos for this purpose. I only drive 20 minutes to and from work. I've looked at Davidoff's and Macanudos, but haven't decided. I have little to no experience with cigarillos (except for a few Al Capones when I was like 21-ish) and would love to hear some brothers opinions on brands.

depends on the day / time of year. . .
- on weekends, I smoke in the mornings - w/ coffee and a book - usually pick something I like with coffee regardless of strength
- during the week, on my lunch break (weather pending)
- Winter, I am still figuring things out. In my car probably - need space heater for outside

I usually choose the cigar based on the amount of time I have to smoke. If I want to have one in the morning before work and only have an hour, I'll choose something small. If I'm off work and don't have plans, it could be a Lancero or Churchill, or possibly two smaller cigars.

I like the Cohiba (NC) Black pequenos with a few months on them. I had some La Gloria Cubanas with yellow cello that were good.

I've heard good things about the Cohiba Nicaragua, Patron Corticos, and AVO Domaine in the tins.

I do this a lot - half a stick with my morning coffee, 10-15 minutes of burn time as a work break and then leave it on a cigar brake on a ledge, stuff like that. You don't use a super premium for that, but if it's a "cigar fix" you're looking for, a few hours between burns won't ruin it.

I like NC Punch and Hoyo for this - they make a 40 rg that works for a "smoke break" and such. (But, I've always liked NC Punch and Hoyo more than most guys seem to, so take that with a grain of salt.) Holt's is still clearing out the Dissident brand, coronas still available I think - also good stuff, and my go-to cheapie as of lately. JLP is a good affordable smoke on the CC side, I like the cazadores but the brevas will accomplish the same thing in a slightly smaller vitola. All can be had for approx $2 or even less, but make sure to mix it up, otherwise they get boring.

Now back on topic, if it's the weekend and I have time to burn? Anything, any time - whatever I feel like smoking. And that's how it should be.

Typically I'm a late afternoon/evening cigar smoker. It tends to revolve around a few things; if it's a weekday and when I plan to have dinner or if it's a weekend and if it's 75+ humidity or under 45 outside. I don't smoke all that often but prefer a torpedo or churchill when I do. So time is my usual issue as it'll take a good hour 1/2 to 2 hours.
Plus it depends on how the mosquitoes are biting or if there's a foot of snow on the ground. I still settle for evening most times as things tend to be over by then and afterwards I can shower and be relaxed the rest of the night.

Most of my smoking takes place after 7pm unless I'm on the golf course. I prefer a medium-full stick after dinner with a good glass of bourbon. When I do smoke earlier in the day or while golfing, I go with a mild stick - especially when it's 95+ degrees out.
