These are from the mold. It's listed as a 52x7 mold but it's really a 50x6.75. These sticks are 6.25. The "Kentucky" one uses a wrapper from Big Bonner; the "Corojo" one uses WLT. The rest are Jorge CT Shade. I like the bright pale yellow of the Kentucky and I'm hoping it'll smoke now that I've given it 8 months of age. It was too young before. I've also been assured by three WLT people that the current Corojo Oscuro burns wonderfully, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. The disturbing thing about rolling torpedoes is it's a lot tougher to check the draw as you go. You basically gotta use the exact tech and leaf amount on a batch and then check the draw in 2.5 months. If it worked, do that thing again. Fortunately I can do that since I actually weigh my leaf. These are exactly 6g per priming, and each final stick weighs exactly 15g.

Your precision is awe inspiring

Plus i love torpedoes

I'm becoming more and more fond of torpedos and expect to go down this route. Can't wait to see some bliss YouTube vids of wrapping these as I can only imagine capping is a rowdy bitch

I will make a vid when I've totally solved it. But for the moment there are some aspects I haven't 100% resolved, as is visible in the six different tips in my last pic. I disagree with Rem that it is easier than parejos.

Personally ... I love them... I love the simple closure... Cut out a D instead of an O... tilt the D to a 2&8 o'clock position D facing out... stick the 8 o'clock tab down and begin to wrap the cap... repeat for second capping... done... Love it! Maybe it's less obsesesive with me... I obsess over the parejos all the time... they annoy me lol... they look nice in the end... but I get annoyed by the final cap... always slipping around and tearing and crap I can't stand... I just find the torp easy to wrap ... less stress on me. :p

New born babies (still wet) from my new mold I just got from Bliss. Not used to these tiny little 42 rg cigars but I think I'm gonna like them. Certainly will use less tobacco.

That's the strange thing about petite coronas: they use half the tobacco, taste twice as good and burn longer than fatties.

Do you find that weighing the amount of leaf gives a more consistent construction/draw?

My postulate here is that if I make a batch with a specific structure-weight and then test that draw in a few months after the thing has gone through whatever changes of morphology it's got comin', that I'll be able to replicate that draw with the exact same weight-structure, or open it up or close it down by adding more or subtracting some from the exact same-shaped bunch. There won't be any mystery. I suspect the draw will be good, tho, since after a few thousand rolls I have a sense of what a 50-52 rg bunch should feel like.

I took a few months and focused on my 44rg mold, specifically for that reason. It seemed, that bouncing between the 40, 44, and 47 over and over again was adding chaos to my learning how to bunch properly. In just the last few weeks, I've gone back to the 40 and 47. While I think I still have much to learn about proper bunching, I think my time focusing on the 44rg is showing benefit to all sizes.

Yep, I can dig what you're saying, empirically.

Same as @nic, I have focused almost all of my energy on my 44rg mold. Got that baby dialed in and it has helped me dial in my 40rg sticks. The larger ring gauges (up to 50rg) are my next venture as soon as I can budget for a new mold.
I've found that I can very easily push my 47rg mold to 49rg without problems.

I love how that wrapper looks Marc! What leaf is that?
Me to. all this talk about Criollo 98 got me opening my last bag of wrapper from WLT. Really, it's that it's back in stock now that made me do it. These are double maduro (fermented to the max) Criollo, Corojo, a sliver of San Vicente and PA broadleaf, bound in Mata Fina and Honduran Habano.

I have a 50rg mold, if you want it, it's yours for a dozen of your mellowest sticks and a six pack of your beers. Beautiful old mold. Time you wrap one from this mold, tho, your stick actually comes out around 52 or 53 rg.
I also have a mold slightly smaller round. Not as nice; but by the time you wrap one, comes out at 50.

I'm not using them. Don't intend to. Still loving the fecto and will prolly never master it, so... ping me if. I'm shipping out a bomb, a sampler, and a leaf kit Tuesday, so the bike panniers will be full up. I'm out of town fetching a Guzzi Wednesday and Thursday; but I can prolly ship it out Friday.
