BOTL:
I picked up a 170 bottle wine cooler off CL for $125. The cooling stopped working so he was selling it on the cheap but that works for me since it's compressor anyways and I know we need thermo. So now I have this very well ventilated (four fans built in), cabinet humidor essentially. The shelves that came with it are beech so I am going to get custom shelves and drawers from John Nelson or Forrest. I've read up on both and understand the differences. My question is about the layout I'm looking at. This will be my first wineador and I'm about to invest a lot into the shelves and drawers so I want to make sure I think of everything. On the attachment there are two images of the cooler. I will be removing the bottom two shelves to make room for a Cigar Oasis Magna. Right now only sitting on 12 boxes with about 300 singles, 5-packs, etc. but trying to think ahead. If you could take a look at the attachment with all my thoughts (# of drawers and shelves) and let me know if you would change something and why, I am all ears! Appreciate anything you can help me out with here.

You got a great deal on your wineador, but I am sure you know that. What brand is it? Do you live in an arid part of AZ or a more moderate climate?
I can't help with the shelf and drawer layout, but will be watching with interest.
Almost a year ago I bought a 170 bottle N'Finity off of the local CL and the cooling still works. It has 14 wooden slotted shelves and I just use it as is. It is amazingly stable using 10# of kitty litter and 3# of Heartfelt beads to maintain Rh. I just keep all the cigars in boxes. After using it for a while I didn't see a need to spend the money for drawers. I preferred to spend that money on cigars.
I don't use the refrigeration on mine as it makes it more difficult to keep the Rh steady. But we keep our house at a constant 73-74f year round and the cigars seem very happy.
I did decide just for peace of mind to freeze all of my cigars within the first month of getting the wineador to help insure no beetle infestation. I love mine as is. But I look forward to seeing yours develop. Congrats!

Thank you! Yeah, I got a great deal all because the cooling wasn't working. It is a Koolatron Elite. I saw it on Costco as a 123 bottle for $2,499 and saw it at Sams as a 160 something bottle for a little cheaper. Count difference is based on shelving config.

I am going to get drawers as I have a lot of singles now without enough boxes and I just like the organization as I'm slightly OCD ;) I live in the East Valley of AZ but in my office where this is located, I'm reading 52% humidity on two calibrated hygrometers. My house stays 73 -74 year round as well since both my wife and I work from home and we don't want to kill ourselves during peak hours. I am planning to use a CO Magna with KL in every drawer, both bottom and top zones. Looking at switching the direction of one of the fans in the zone dividing shelf to create a circular air flow throughout the unit to hopefully keep everything stable and roughly the same RH top to bottom.

I've been thinking about freezing but i have been smoking for 19 years and haven't had issues. That said, it only takes one!

I went ahead and placed my order based on the layout I presented so I will post pics when it's all up and running.

Sounds like a good plan.
I noticed you go to Fox's. A good friend named Justin used to go there a lot but moved to CA about a year ago. He was originally from WI. Did you know him by chance?

I don't. I just started frequenting Fox the past two or three months. Historically I have smoked at home but with the heat, I started going there.

Can't blame ya there. That AZ summer heat is tough stuff. I don't care how low the humidity is.
Good luck with your wineador setup. I think you will love it once you get it finished to your liking.

So...shelves and drawers arrived yesterday! Going to season for a couple of days just to make sure. I realize that with active humidification it isn't always necessary as it seasons while you store smokes but why rush. Anyways, here are some pics of it all put together. Pretty stoked with how it turned out! Lot of room for air to flow through and will hold a lot of cigars and allow for organization.

Thanks guys! Ill update with some pictures of it loaded now. Actually not as much room left as I hoped after consolidating all other storage into this one.
