Can this be salvaged?

I was given this humidor from a work friend. Hadn't been used in quite some time. I threw away the dried out black plastic containers that had sponges in them but they left behind these black outlines. Is this trash now? Can I clean it somehow?

I would hit the inside with some light sandpaper to just clean things up, maybe just a touch of alcohol if you feel its necessary (only on the stains), you should find those stains come out pretty easily. Let it dry out a day or so, and throw a hanfull (6-8 if it were me) of boveda 85s in there (the ones meant for seasoning) and walk away for a month - leave it closed! Come back and take an RH reading, you'll probably be ready to rock.

No worries. It's totally salvagable. Most of what you see is cosmetic and very shallow. Piece of cake.

My advice, and this goes with all desktops, keep our sticks in a ziplock with a boveda and then throw the bag into the humidor..done. Never worry about your cigars again and you get functional use out to the desktop.

Not totally sure. You can hear the suction when it closes but how would I check it?

Take a dollar and close the lid on it and see how easy/difficult to pull out...

If you think ya might need a better seal you can build up the edge/lip with blue painters tape to get a better seal.

I have a small desktop. Passed the dollar bill test. Put a very bright led light in it and could see light at the lid and box edge. I used adhesive back felt to make a better seal on the lip. Paid less than a buck for the sheet and they come in all colors.
