Good morning friends.
My wife and I have been kicking around the idea of purchasing an RV for the family and I wondered if any of you had any experience in this area. We love to travel and see the country. We rarely have any specific vacations planned we just kind of say hey let's go there or hey wanna go to the mountains next week? We travel pretty much exclusively by car as flying with the 4 of us gets a bit spendy and my wife has some mobility issues that make air travel a logistical nightmare. My kids love road trips so I figured why not make the road portion of our trips more enjoyable.
We have been looking at class c RVs in the 25 to 30 foot range. I have a place to park it when not in use.
Pros? Cons?
I'd love to hear from anyone with experience in the RV world.

Are you thinking of a pull behind camper or a all in one RV ?

If you have a pick up and can drag a camper around, the set up tear down in kept to a minimum. A run for ice and grub become a headache in a rv.

If an RV pusher, are you planning on towing a rig, it can seriously eliminate a lot of headaches when trying to do day activities.

If you plan and pack the RV well, then you can spend a lot more time having fun and not running around . ..

My plan is for a class C all in one. With the tow behind I would still have the family packed into a car for the whole drive. Part of the plan here is to make the drive part of the fun. In the RV the kids can stretch out or at least put a few feet between each other. My wife has issues if she sits too long without moving so having the ability to walk a bit or lay down and nap would be great. The RV eliminates the need to stop every 45 minutes to relieve the bladders of 3 women lol. Room for another family is nice too. It has benefits I think for people who want to see the country from the road.
I would tow my beetle to have transportation at whatever destination we end up at.
We often just go places on a whim and removing the need to plan for lodging, eating, bathrooms etc on the road would be great. Plus after the kids are out in the world I could see her and I hitting the road for a good chunk of the year. Follow the nice weather a bit. Host traveling herfs!

We have a 30ft jayco and we love it
Jayco is a nice ride. I have been looking at a grey hawk primarily because it is one of the few I have seen with a walk-around queen bed in the master suite. The missus would do much better with that set up.
Is yours built on the ford f450?

Sorry forgot to mention, ours is a travel trailer. We tow it with our Tahoe.

Sounds like a damn good plan...ours is a pull behinds so I'm not gonna be a biggest help, but from everything the in laws have said...buy 3 of everything. They are always running back and forth from the house...haha

They are on their second year of heading south for the winter and love being on the road.
