About 2/3 through--does anyone like these? Seems like a terribly one dimensional stick--anyone have a different view?

I ordinarily wouldn't either--someone in the lounge I've been hanging out in lately seemed to be smoking them exclusively, which made me intrigued to at least try one. Needless to say I was unimpressed and will probably stick to sub 60 sticks

Haven't tried the 80, but have had 60 and 70. I agree, they're pretty one dimensional, but I do like the dimension.

I have never smoked anything larger than 60 and view these huge cigars as being geared towards new smokers who think bigger must be better or will make them appear cool, when it can have the exact opposite effect.

50 and under is what usually appeals to me for feel and flavor.

I'm a new smoker and tried 60 ring once and hated it. Much prefer the high 40's to low 50's
IMO, it all depends on the blend. More often than not, I'm a corona guy. That being said, there's something about the VSG in the "Spellbound" size that's magical. I think that sucker is a 54.

I only smoke those when I'm wearing my clown suit. Red nose optional.

I find Asylum to be better under the 60 ring. I mean, some are OK, but they are pretty much one or two note acts at that size.

I thought it was cedar--all cedar all the time

This is how I've felt about most VSGs, with the Spellbound being the exception. Something about that stick paired with a glass of bourbon is outstanding.

It might be the difference between the smaller and larger RG. Or, that big 8x80, being an odd size, might have some age to it. I could easily see it sitting on the shelf for a while before somebody comes along that's brave (or drunk, lol) enough to fire it up.. I know the pc I had was from 2012, so it had some age, but was still a one note pepper bomb that had my nose running... lol. The toro had a bit more to it, with cedar and a coffee note accompanying the pepper, but still a pepper bomb.. It was younger, with maybe about a year on the shelf for it..

I've tried an asylum 13 petite corona, and toro. both were pretty much one note smokes. Decent, but one note - pepper.

My take on the OR Robusto - Pungent chocolate covered almond, cedar & rich earth aroma. Mushroom, musty tobacco & black pepper cold draw. 1st - big earthy mushroom and sweet caramel blast, some powdered cocoa and espresso round out the finish but the earthy mushroom really dominates the profile. Tight draw, thin chalky smoke, wonky burn, decent ash. 2nd - mushroom settles down, cocoa & pepper move forward to finish off the last of it in linear fashion. Bit of nic kick at the nub. Med-Full

Smoked in 2014, final rating was "Pass"
