If we had a place for new members to go and READ OLDER POSTS,we would not have to answer these repetitive questions every month.
I challenge the Mods to set aside a spot to store and develop a Newbie Resource Area.

If people searched every question... the only threads active would be the smoke of the day posts ( which @Stogie_Bear started 6 hours early) and the latest purchases thread and the rest of the board would be DEAD.

So these posts aren't a big deal, they keep the board going and allow new people to get help from active members.

Usually when you search a post you will find that most of those old members aren't even active.

I personally do not mind the "newbie" questions as it gives an opportunity to exchange thoughts with the newbie. All of us were newbies at one time and those that stay here do so because they were made to feel welcome and established relationships with other brothers. I don't think I will ever be too busy or annoyed with repeated questions. That's a level of arrogance that I hope I never get to. There is a lot to learn in this hobby and if you really care about it you will take the time and show the patience that was given to you when you first started. Just one old man's opinion but I think some of us forget in this age of instant information that it's gratifying to touch base with someone on a more personal level. If you don't want to respond to a request for information just don't. Seems pretty simple to me.

Thank you sir. I read a ton and therefore don't ask a lot of questions, but I do sincerely appreciate the helpfulness and fellowship that comes from most I've seen here. I love this place.

Yea. This. I've been smoking for a while but find I have a lot of newbie questions especially after getting together with other BOTLs who are far more experienced. I like the fact that conversations get repeated, because they're never the same thing twice. And you can learn something reading what you think you already know.

Not everybody understands things at the same level. I could read a thread, get confused, and hope somebody can come in and answer in the old thread. Or, I can post my question in a new thread and wait for more experienced, active members to answer.

Me, personally, I don't know enough to offer advice as to smoking and storing cigars. I find others ask questions, and they get good answers. Most of my questions get asked by another poster, so there is no need for me to repeat the question. But I click on every new post and read it.

With that said, I read through the forum rules and saw nothing that said I have to read every new post. If the subject line doesn't interest me, I don't click it. If I start to read a thread, and find it doesn't interest me, I click the back button and look at the next thread.

An Internet forum is really nothing but a bulletin board wthout dialog. Even if it's repetitive, it's still dialog and drives traffic to the site.

I agree with what others have said as far as this not being an issue. We all asked 'newb' questions in our early days on the board. What always set BOTL apart from other boards for me at least was the amount of welcoming and informative replies to even the most basic of questions.

Also - if you're going to "challenge" the Mods to do something, why not take the time to do it yourself as a way to contribute to the board? I did the Pre Study Package thread long before I was a mod - even before I was ever nominated for BoM. If you think a compilation thread would be helpful to new users, by all means create one.

It seems my intent was misunderstood.
All of these threads are already here, in depth.
I had the vision of an area set up to catalog and showcase these threads, which others have already taken the time and effort to produce,to educate and enlighten those who wish to learn and more fully enjoy this hobby we all share.

As far as thinking I am capable of taking this on, I would not be a good subject to try it, I lack the computer ability to do it.

I got what you meant. I think you're use of "challenge" was probably misunderstood by mods.

Yes, it is a product of being an old fart who was educated before computers.
Thanks for your support.
