Not exactly. All of them should play dual layer discs cause thats what commercial DVD9 movies are. I have the phillips that plays divx and love it. The remote isn't the best but it plays a lot of formats and theres a way to set it to region 0 making it play discs from other countries.
But if you have an HDTV you might want to look at one that does upsampling
Ya know, I've never really tried a dual layer disc before even though most of my burners can use them. They just cost too much to be useful. The only thing they would be handy for is copying a DVD-9 movie without modifying it.Not exactly.
Commercial DVDs are dual layer, but they're pressed not burned.
Some DVD players have problems playing burned dual layer discs.
It can even come down to the brand of disc.
Check out http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php for some comparisons.
edit:
For some reason I missed joshua posting that link before me.
I got a really good deal on some Verbatim DLs (widely acknowledged as the best consumer available blank DL), but my DVD player doesn't like them.Ya know, I've never really tried a dual layer disc before even though most of my burners can use them.
