I just received the Spanish cedar trays from Amazon, and I am quite pleased with them. They are a little short for the igloo cooler (25 qrt.) but I think I am going to be very happy with them the RH dropped to 60 right after I put them in but in less than 24 hours RH is now 64% and climbing. once it settles down I will transfer cigars to trays out of boxes. I plan to place some strips for the trays to rest on above the KL crystals. I also am thinking about getting two more, but I probably just keep the three boxes that I am using now.spanish cedar tray.png

Cheap humidors has them as well for about the same price. They have two different sizes to choose from, I bought 4 from them.

Most I have found over the years have a veneer of Spanish cedar and an mdf/cardboard core.
Easy way to ensure they are all cedar is to make them yourself or find a woodworker you trust to make them.
Most, but not all, online retailers will sell you anything and pass it off as all wood. Which it is not.
Good way to know who sells the all wood ones is to see if they have any in stock, most of the legit ones are almost always out of stock. Sometimes.
To further make it worrisome is my local B&M's have all sold me cardboard ones at ridiculously high prices and all told me they were solid Spanish cedar. Hence all my cigars have been bought online for well over a decade. I don't do business with overtly dishonest people.
I have played guitars for over 30 years now and have worked on them for almost as long, I know a little about woods. Not an expert by any means but I can tell the difference between a piece of cardboard with a veneer or solid woods.
Cheers.

Wow. Thanks for the info. I'll have to make sure I research it well before pulling the trigger

The bottoms of these are Spanish cedar veneer over MDF; the sides and divider are solid Spanish cedar. Almost anything out there available commercially is made by the same manufacturer. You'll only get 100% solid wood by buying custom trays. That being said, they work just fine.
