You can be as anal as you want with YOUR cigars, but don't expect anyone to feed into or agree your neurosis it is necessary or desired. I love the cigar hobby and enjoy the simplicity of how easy cigars are to maintain. You can wrap your cigars like mummies in cheese cloth if you want, I doubt anyone really cares. But when you ask and people say it not necessary, accept their opinion, you asked for it. Personally I enjoy keeping it simple. If I had to worry about the hobby, I would quickly drop it.

I hope your wife got a nice expensive bike she enjoys. Sounds like she deserves it.

I don't think trying to keep 200 cigars organized in two coolidors is anal. Just smart.

The cotton mesh may absorb some of the humidity as you store the cigars. Cotton acts like a moisture wicking substance, which is why many use is for clothing. Typically, manufacturers use ribbon or lightweight cord to bundle the cigars for storage. But, if it works and you like it, sounds good.

Well, there ya go. Sounds like another noob stocking up on cigars without knowing if they like them or not. You are not the first nor will be the last. Many would question if that is smart or not. But I personally hope you truly enjoy them all.

Gotta agree with this.....most people want others to agree with their reasoning so they ask expecting total agreement with their choices regardless of it being about cigars or driving to Nevada to enjoy the Bunny ranches and want to believe that their investment will be positive for what they are looking for. The cigar hobby tends to bring all sorts of enthusiasts to the playing field...some will become so anal retentive that they will recite incantations before they smoke their cigar...some will insert them into areas that are a bit strange....others will wrap their cigars in stuff that I've read about that would scare you but when the mind settles on something as to what it wants to do....they're gonna find a reason to do it.

There's a reason why humidors are made....and there are viable things for the hobbyist to do when inventorying and storing their cigars to make it simple as has already been suggested. Once a cigar has been purchased the owner can do whatever they want with them and while we can help with suggestions that you asked in the thread you are free to put them into anything you want as you're the one who must deal with the consequences of your actions/choices. BTW...I'd love to see pictures of how you store them just so that I can say I know a guy who did what you're doing.
