Friend of mine and I where discussing how to properly store boxes of cigars. Should the box be partly open or fully shut?
Would it make a difference if storing in a cedar humidor or a Tuperdor filled with other cigar boxes? Let's assume there is good humidity control in the humidor/tuperdor

Maybe one day on the cabinet. Need to keep my eyes open for a shop rearranging their displays

Yea, should have know that. That's what I'm using, even trying to stay away from the boxes with liners or shiny surfaces. I'm trying to figure out if I should jamb the box lid open when resting in the humidor. I put a staple into the box or use a paper clamp to leave about a 1/4" gap. Just don't know if that does anything except take up a bit of room.

The box should act as a humidity and temperature buffer for the cigars inside. Possibly one reason to keep the box closed if your humidor isn't stable. If your humidor is stable does having the air flow in and out the box accomplish anything?

by cabs we mean slide top cigar boxes available at most cigar shops.
I have used these exclusively since the mid 80s.
I remove the slider.
if you get NC boxes for toro or larger ,you can get more than 25 cigars in each. economical and better ageing, cannot go wrong.
I also have paper boxes in ziplock bags for deep storage.
I inspect them often and let the air change.
I only monitor the humidity in the container they are in.
some folks use a coolerdor , like an Igloo you use for beer .....

enjoy.....

I follow MRN theory that maintained in proper environment, the least amount of air flow is the best.
I'm not arguing with MRN or SOFC. Open for inspection, close them back up and check on them every 6 months for mold (and be VERY certain your conditions are ideal -- low 60s RH is best, don't go above 75 degrees or below 60).

Debatable
Mine was longer and showed genuine interest.
I quoted a known expert.
Mine made you have to think.
I sounded like I knew something about the subject.
The boys in chat said it was good even though they didn't know who MRN was.
My mom thought my answer was better.

I have no issues with that. It's safer.
