new addition to the family

got home yesterday from work with a nice "surprise"....

the girlfriend brought home not 1 but 2 ferretts.

dont know what to make of them.... any of you ever have em as pets??

they are cute when they run around wrestling with each other, but ive heard they like to steal things. if my car keys ever wind up missing, im gonna have me a new pair of slippers.............

they stink..literally..ya got to get them fixed or scent glands removed or something along those lines...my ex bought 2 when I was still in army and we first lived together..they can be fun to watch but also have the potential to be mean as hell..len

they are both fixed and de-scented. not that the fixing is a big deal as they are both males. and even though they are de-scented, they still have a musky aroma. not horrible by any means but you can smell em. we have some sort of ferret shampoo thats supposed to help. maybe we'll give it a try tomarrow.

Ferrets are not rodents, they will eat them though....they love mice.

They are carnivores and are related to minks and weasels, and somewhat to otters and skunks.

I had some freinds that had ferrets. They were fun when I visited but I'm not sure I would want them around all the time.

It was pretty cool. They made tunnels for them all around the apartment with 4inch diameter PVC piping.
