CRA (Cigar Rights of America) has made it really simple to email your senators and representative in Congress to petition a stop to the FDA nonsense that is attempting to kill the cigar industry. Fill out a few pieces of information, customize the email if you wish, and the program does the rest, including filling in the email addresses of your senators and representative.
If all of us don't do this, the cigar industry will change forever, and not in a good way.

The last time I sent Feinstein an email opposing legislation, I got an email back thanking me for my support of the legislation. Just shows how much she "cares" about her constituents opinions. But the more they get flooded with opposition, the less they can stretch the lie about the support they have for it.

I've been writing my democrat overlords here in California for years. Needless to say, it has been ineffective. Those in other more sensible states will surely have more luck.

Actually got a response that is not too boilerplate.

Dear Robert:
Thank you for contacting me to express your support for the Traditional Cigar Manufacturing and Small Business Jobs Preservation Act (H.R. 564).
H.R. 564 would amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to clarify the Food and Drug Administration's jurisdiction over certain tobacco products. The Traditional Cigar Manufacturing and Small Business Jobs Preservation Act has been referred to the House Energy and Commerce Committee. I will keep in mind your support for this bill as it moves forward in the legislative process.
I take the viewpoint of my constituents very seriously, and appreciate that you took the time to contact me on this issue. As specific legislation is brought forward on this, or other topics of interest to you, I hope that you will continue to reach out to share your viewpoint.

I got this back.

Dear Brandon:

Thank you for contacting me about regulations on tobacco products. It’s good to hear from you, as always.

In February 2017, Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) introduced the Traditional Cigar Manufacturing and Small Business Jobs Preservation Act of 2017 (S. 294). The bill would exempt traditional large and premium cigars from regulations and fees imposed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This bill has been referred to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, where it awaits further consideration.

I share your concerns regarding specific excise taxes—these taxes are not only an ineffective revenue generator, but they also arbitrarily target specific groups and users. I am generally opposed to using taxes, such as disproportionately high taxes on tobacco products, to influence behavior. Rather, I believe that federal taxes should be used to generate revenue to pay for important functions of the federal government, such as providing for the defense of our country.

Moreover, in these challenging economic times, I believe our taxes are too high overall, as well as too complicated. Please know that I am committed to reducing our taxes, simplifying our tax code, and eliminating discriminatory taxes to reduce the tax burden on citizens and return power from Washington to taxpayers.

As we move forward in the 115th Congress, I will be sure to keep your concerns in mind. And I hope you will continue to keep me informed of your opinion. A well-functioning republic depends on active citizens to inform their elected representatives of issues of concern and to hold elected officials accountable. I’m always grateful to hear from my fellow citizens on matters of public policy.

I am truly honored to serve as your Senator; please know that your interests and affairs have my unceasing attention. Always feel free to call my office at (202) 224-2353 or visit www.cotton.senate.gov.

Sincerely,

Tom Cotton
United States Senator

Another reply from another Senator:

Thank you for contacting me to express your support for S. 294, the "Traditional Cigar Manufacturing and Small Business Jobs Preservation Act of 2017." It is good to hear from you.

As a small business owner for over 25 years, I understand the pressures that our small businesses face, which is why I am a cosponsor of this legislation.

As you may know, President Obama signed the "Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act" into law on June 22, 2009. This legislation empowered the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) with broad regulatory and tax authority over the tobacco industry, including cigar producers and tobacco shops. I opposed this legislation when it came before me in the U.S. House of Representatives. On February 2, 2017, Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) introduced S. 294, which would exempt traditional and premium cigars from these new rules. This legislation has been referred to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions.

Like you, I recognize that duplicative and unnecessary regulatory burdens negatively impact small businesses. While rules and regulations play an important role in establishing the parameters for business, they can also serve as an obstacle to business development and job creation. Please be assured that I will support S. 294 should it come before me for a vote in the U.S. Senate.

Again, thank you for contacting me on this very important issue. Please be sure to visit our website at www.boozman.senate.gov. I look forward to your continued correspondence.

Sincerely,

John Boozman
U.S. Senator
