Thanks. I don't mind making them for others at cost, as long as it doesn't kill my time or equipment or cost me anything. I gave some away here recently when I designed my second version type. Hopduro got a set that way. I've also given sets to friends that have given things to me, such as lots of cigar education and such. I had some leftover plastic and I made the ones in this picture for a new rolling friend (those are version 1 and close differently than the other picture). He didn't care about the color since it was free leftover plastic and can paint them if color is a really big deal.

I'm working on my CNC rig to make them out of wood, but life being too full hasn't allowed me to progress on that project much, plus I can design and print anything I want at will with a million times less mess, broken bits, and failed carves. I've been spending my free time on increasing my rolling skills.

Making molds to sell doesn't financially make sense for the prices people want to pay for molds and the infrequent purchases they would be. I've thought a lot about it. The mold in the previous pictures would start at $70 plus shipping if you took my design to a commercial printing shop, and you'd only ever need 1. I've made as little as 2 sticks up to 8 sticks. With smaller gauges I might be able to do 10 sticks, but since I only ever roll 4 at a time I haven't tried it. Each print takes about a day to two days depending on the amount of material laid down.

That makes sense man. You've got some talent. If you ever have some left over plastic id love to see about a salomon style mold. Im really fascinated by that shape as of late.

I should mention that I own my own printer and don't use commercial printers, too. Most commercial printers can't print something as big as a 6 or 8 stick mold.

Thanks.

I don't have a lot because I'm pretty frugal with plastic and print efficiently. In this case you'll see that those molds are two toned in some areas. I ran out of one roll of plastic and fed another color in to keep printing. Those are pla plastic too and I've switched exclusively to abs for molds, so I had some pla left.

Yeah they aren't cheap. Most decent ones are 2k or more. I fried the motherboard in mine a little while ago and that little part was $200.

I also do the design in a cad. I can make any shape if given a drawing of dimensions and measurements.

Tonight's smoke is one rolled in February. Seems to be a one off as its all alone. Maybe I already burned the others from February but I don't recall.
.5 Dom Ligero
2 Nic Viso
1 Nic Seco
Dom binder
Ec. Ligero wrapper.

I didn't find any distinct flavors with this. About half way through I picked up some light coffee but it faded out to a mild pepper. The retrohale definitely carried some pepper.

Ended it with a nice sunset:

Yesterday was a 1 day old test of Piloto seco and Dom ligero with piloto binding and PA Oscuro wrapped. It was good but still too damp. That PA Oscuro had the whitest ash ever....

So Gents.... I've come up with an idea I want to run by you all... I'd like to see who is interested in participating in a Roll-A-Thon by we American Underground Cigar Rollers? A sorta fresh rolled cigar tasting convention. The Delaware Park extended my management team an invitation to roll... I thought... why not have as many of us come together to showcase our unique niche? Are any of you open to this? Plus... it's a good way for us all to meet. I've got no problem organizing it if you're game :) xoxox

Love the colors ... I've worked so long without a mold that I think I'd malfunction just trying to think about putting the tobacco into the mold :p Great designs here too :D

Yes but how does one avoid becoming a federally wanted criminal in these FDA-inflected times?
I've mentioned a few times to several rollers. With a tobacco sales license which here is $200 bucks, you can sell tobacco in it's agricultural state. I roll as a complementary service but I sell NAME BRAND Agri-Pak Blends. I sell to club members and to the public this way. They buy the name brand blend pack which is the cigar leaf blend in agricultural state (center vein still intact) from filler to wrapper is all packaged together (they are going to marry anyway right?). Customer buys the argri-pak and then I roll it for them complementary... the cigar isn't sold nor is it free... it's the rendered art. What the customer chooses to do with it is their business. When I do public rolling events for private parties... I sell a ticket for the blend... when they buy that ticket they purchased the blend which I've already brought loose with me... I then proceed to roll it complementary. Should someone want to roll their own... the cost of the leaf is the same... since that's the only thing I sell. It isn't what the law says... it's what the law doesn't say that we outsider rollers have to think about. ~xox
