Hey guys. For the past 7 years I've been using the same humi. Bottom is 3 compartments and top is a tray. I would buy 10 to 15 cigars at a time and smoke few a month. At most, I would have 30 cigars in it.
Now that I'm getting more into cigars, I started buying boxes and been thinking about buying a bigger humidor where I can keep more cigars. I almost bought a newair but read bad reviews. Can anyone recommend a decent unit ? Temp control would be a plus but not requirement.
I have 3 boxes on the way.

I love my new air cc-300. Rock solid.
I looked at those. I read bad reviews on the cc100 I think. People say it collects moisture inside. Have you experienced anything like that. They say it's something with the fan

Yeah, you will get moisture inside IF… if your outside temperature is significantly higher than the temperature you're trying to hold. I experienced that, so I raised the temperature of the CC-300, and haven't had any issues whatsoever since. It's not a fault in design, it's just science and humidity.
Yep. Same thing with mine. Great unit.

I just ordered the Newair CC-100 250 count. I read all those same reviews you did, but I also read the good reviews. All the bad reviews were people who, in my opinion, don't understand how things work. 70% of people gave it 4-5 stars. I have a friend who has one, and he has had great luck with it. Colorado has humidity issues (it's wicked dry here) and I needed something what was easier to maintain, and had some temperature control.

@VeLoRoK - what temperature is yours set at?

I'm set at 68 as well. Is like to do 62° but I have steam heart I can't turn off, so even in the winter if I set that low I'd get some condensation.

Thanks! I live above the boiler in our condo and it’s hot all the time. I need something to bring the heat down, but don’t want to ruin my sticks. I’ll start with 68 and see what happens. I’ve though about lining the inside with additional Spanish cedar to help control moisture. We shall see.

I bought the standard new air and got the custom trays made. And for the longest time just had it plugged in until I realized it was running too much. The max temp was 66* and I never kept my place that cool, so I would get the water pool at the bottom. I tried to disengage the fan but keep the thermo cooling, but I'm not tech/mech savvy and didnt want to break it haha

Well for summer I put the whole unit on a timer, along with a fan at the bottom (just that used to be on the timer), running 7 minutes 6 times a day keeps it approproate temp, and since the fan isnt on 24/7 theres no water build up.

So in short, can't go wrong with a wineador, even if you don't need it plugged in/on. Looks nicer than many options, I never had luck with desktop humis, and hold many many cigars.

Good luck!

Got a Haier 32 Bottle unit of CL for $25. Cooling is broken so its really just a nice looking coolidor but has been holding RH rock solid. Guestimating to be honest, I can definitely fit an easy 600+ cigars. I know you said cooling isn't a requirement, would a coolidor suffice?

In the storage / wine cooler threads there are some discussions about diagnosing and repairing them if thats something you might ever want to consider doing... I think it's usually just ordering and replacing a part.
