Ok so I just won 3 boxes of 601 La Bomba Atoms for 34.00 a box. Which I am very happy about. What I dont understand is how Cbid works since it doesnt show a bid history like Ebay. What happened was I was watching the lot of 3 boxes which currently needed a bid of 25.00 to win, barring of course someone doesnt have a higher than 25.00 max bid. So I bid for 3 boxes at 25.00 with a max of 34.00 within the last few seconds(which btw shame on cbid for not actually displaying the seconds and just saying "just seconds remaining"). Next thing I know I won all three boxes for 34.00 a piece. The boxes before where all split between 3 different bidders. So do you mean to tell me that each one of those three bidders had the same exact max bid and I beat them all? I almost wish I didnt put a max and just seen what happened if I had only bid 25. I mean in all reality what is keeping cbid from just saying ok this guy will pay 34 a box so we will just make his bid go up to 34. I hate how it doesnt show the bid history after you won like ebay does so you can actually see the break down of what happened. All I know is the bid was at 25, I set a max of 34 and bang I win all three at 34. Extreme coincidence or is Cbid rigged a bit? Dont get me wrong I'm happy but just a little confused.

Scenario
You're in at 25 for Q=3
I bid 28 for Q=1 I believe your entire bid goes to 28
I rebid 31 for Q=1 or Q=3 for that matter your bid goes up to 31
I try again and rebid 34 for Q=? you're entire bid goes up to 34
I decide to move on leaving you at 34
The key is all bids go up in price until the order is filled. If your Q =3 the entire lot goes up until the order is filled. You could have won 2 at 34 if the new bidder bid 1 at 37

Set your bid at a price you can afford... if you don't win the auction then wait for it to appear again and do the same thing until you finally do win the auction... Simple as that as you won't get caught up in the bidding Mania.
Haven't bought anything from cigar bid in a LONG time...but I used to use the auction history site http://sloppymcnubble.com/cbid/ (not sure if it still is working) to just pivot out the cheapest an auction has sold for. Then I would just set my price to that and forget it. Yeah I lost a ton of auctions, but also won a ton of really good deals. It takes a bit of time and patience but agree with the poster above, set a price you're comfortable with and be patient if you get outbid just try again next time when they put the product back up.

Yes the quantity was only 3 available all who which were claimed by separate bidders. From what I could tell no one rebid after I put in my bid since this all happened when it said "only seconds remaining" i posted my bid for 25 with a max of 34 and then won all 3 at 34. No one from what I could tell bid after I put my bid in. So to me that means the other 3 bidders would have all had the same max bid set the same or else wouldnt i have won their box at a lower price. For example if one bidder actually had there bid set for 29 and the others were at 25, shouldnt I have one one box at 34 and the other at 29. I mean obviously its not a legitimate bidding site and has it set for them to make a profit, this is only my second purchase on there and both times I've won my purchase well below msrp so it can definitely work in your favor. I just want to make sure I'm making it work the best as I can. Next time I try to snipe something I will not use a max bid and see what happens and I'll make sure to use a timer or something to actually know how many second are left.
If this were the case though how could they even make a profit? The same box of cigars sells for 66.99 on other sites so even with a typical discount code of 15% off with free shipping your paying 56.95. I paid 34 plus 5.95 shipping so 39.95 but really even less since I bought 3 boxes so shipping was 7.95 so I ended up paying 36.65 a box.

If you are going to try and steal a bid at the last minute it only works if you bid on a single item By buying multiple items at the last minute you run everybody up past their limits and you pay the higher price.
You have to consider how important it is that early bidders maintain their position until beaten
Bidder a Q=1 is at 19 with max 22
Bidder B is Q=2 at 19 max bid 25
you bid Q=1 max 28
you get one at 25 (bidder b's and bidder b gets bidder a's at 25) That way bidder b stays ahead of you and bidder a drops out

So basically going after quantity is where I screwed up. I should just try to purchase a box at a time. Honestly this is the first time I've ever bought multiples boxes of the same cigar, its also the first time I seen La Bombas on cbid and I had just had a backorder canceled for the Nuclear size from thompson and they said that it was discontinued. So I seen the opportunity to stock up at a good price incase they are going to become hard to find. Live and learn, I think I still got a good deal, next time I'll shoot for a single box though.

Probably not a good idea to admit to sniping when using CBID...some here tend to use them and tends to rile people up when they know you would do that and subsequently snatch the auction from them...just putting it out there.
I only ever put a max bid up if I got knocked off my bid in the last 5-10 minutes or so then I'll bid again set the max bid a little higher (about $10 more kind of like what you did) and then babysit it till the bid is done if I really want to win it or leave it alone at the max bid I put down if I don't want to spend higher then "x" amount of $ in the bud. Doing it that way, a little more then half the time I have won well under my max bid, a few times right at my max and a few other times lost the bid as it was over my max bid.
One thing that may help is ti pay attention to the other bids and see what things are going for. When an auction ends use that last bid on that same item on a new auction as a guide to where it should approximately end up at. A lot of the time cbid has excellent deals, but not always sometimes you'd be better off with a 15%, 17% or 18%, off with free shipping from another site, so keep that in mind as well.
