When is a 90 not a 90

A few weeks back I published an article about some research I did on review sites that used the 100 point system. I wanted to map out all the reviews they did over the past 3 years to see what their average score was along with how many times they used each score. The results may be surprising to some in regards to a fair amount of inflation across the sites

Today I posted up a follow-up article in which I gave my opinions on the results, on how each of the sites utilize the system and some of the reasons I believe there is inflation in the system.

The artical about your Pallete is interesting, but my Pallete is not normal, as I understand all the HOT STUFF I eat has changed mine.

Neat read. Thanks for putting it all together, as I've been curious about how these ratings are produced. I mean, everything reviewed can't be a 90... I recall buying some "90+" samplers when I first started cigarring, and most of those were awful! Not to mention some of my favs are rated low Lol.. It really made me begin to just ignore the rating, and focus more on what the actual review had to say about it- flavors, burn, strength, etc.. much better way to go about things imo, but the 100pt system is too convenient, and well established. I don't believe there will be any chance of changing, hopefully more smokers will spend the time to actually read the reviews, from multiple locations, before jumping on something simply because of the number rating associated with it..

Couldn’t possibly agree with you more. I used to shop strictly by ratings 90 or higher and then I noticed how regularly I was unimpressed. I’ve since learned what profiles I enjoy most and shop more by the profiles in the review instead of the score itself.

I really feel that any "seasoned" smoker prob does the same.. The ratings have to be for the new or unaware smoker, somebody who doesn't really know what they like yet.. I don't know many Bros around here that'll put too much faith into a rating #.. I do have to say though, BMP is nice how you get an explanation of the score, even if I don't really pay attention to it lol..
