Hey guys,

So I had put a bowl of distilled water in my new humidor box a few days ago. Well today when I was checking the RH of my other humidor, I carelessly picked up the new humidor box, forgetting about the bowl of water, and heard the sploosh! Of water spilling. I opened the lid and realized I had spilled a good amount of water on the bottom of the humidor.

I used several paper towels to blot up the mess and returned the bowl of water. But did I just ruin my humidor? I feel like such an idiot...... I'm really worried the wood is going to crack.

Thanks.

John

Id pull the bowl of water, toss in a boveda or two depending on size of the humidor and see where the RH settles at.
I don't have any Bovedas, I do have a Drymistat humidity stick....... You think that will that work? And you don't think the wood will crack?

At least it was distilled water.... ( lower chance of contamination. ) Another suggestion is if you have SILICA based cat litter around.. NOT the clay type.
This will suck moisture out of the environment pretty quick. Don't dump it in the humidor. Put it in a bowl and rest the bowl inside, and close the humi. In this application, it will draw the humidity out of the air. The wet wood will "breathe off" to replace the dry air. Just a suggestion.

You may wish to actually rest the container on the lid, and close it upside down, if the bottom is what is soaked.
