Hey guys,

I recently bought this four jet torch figuring it would be good for toasting the foot. An upgrade from my humble Bic. I tried it out yesterday and ended up almost ruining my AJ Fernandez Diesel Rage. I came very close to scorching the wrapper with the jets, 5 inches away from the flame. My question...... Is this thing too powerful to light cigars with? Or am I just CLUMSY?

You can probably turn the flame down and just hold it further from the foot. They will burn the hell out of the wrapper if you are not careful!!

Torch lighters have a learning curve. I own single, doubles, and quad flames. Honestly the HOTTEST part of the flam is the top of the flame.

Tip is to keep the torch away from you stick, almost too far in your mind. Look for toasting like a Marshmellow, then you have your Cigar lit.

IMHO many people NEW to using Torches over burn the Cigar. You just want to toast it, like a Marshmellow, that is perfect ignition. IMHO.

Nah, Just hold it farther away from your stick. I use a big propane torch to light my sticks in the winter because its handy and I need it to light the heater in the garage.

I always say anything bigger than a double jet is over kill. But that is just my opinion.

You can "KILL" any Cigar with too much over kill flame even from a Single Torch, honestly like I said before there is a "learning curve", learning to use a Torch.

JMHO.

Hole the Torch & Cigar Horizantally so you can see the FOOT (Botton of the Cigar), try it so you can see the flame toasting the Foot.

I have seen "new" Torch users light beards, mustaches, eye brows, and hair from the heat. People who are shall we say are klutzes.

Honestly a Torch is a VERY HOT FIRE SOURCE.

@Coincrazed try using wood matches. Buy like a pack of 300, that will do the job. The torches can ruin the cigars. But they are good for windy conditions or touch ups
I actually have been using matches! Usually I toast with a bic, and then light a match and do the light and spin. I love using them but they are a total bitch to use in the wind. Since I have been smoking in the garage, I'm going to use them more frequently. That little scorched wrapper really scared me with that torch. I will still use it, but only if I'm smoking outside or there's a ton of wind.
